Question: Am I the only one bothered by stickman chatter when I am the ONLY player at the table? I sometimes play on empty tables -- just me, myself and I -- and the stick does his routine. Why bother? They know how I bet. I understand its part of their job, but... why bother?

I'm not bothered by it, because when I am at my, "Home," casino, I'll usually toss in $1-$2 for them to lock up, tell the Stick to take a break, and start calling my own dice for fun.

"Okay, five, five, three-deuce, no Field five, shooter's looking for a ten and only a ten...Dice are out, no more bets, okay, YO! Yo 'Leven, pay the Field, pay the Come, Take the Don't Come, okay shooter's still looking for a Ten...dice are out, no more bets..."

Alan

Their chatter does not bother me, what i dont like is you make a couple of decent rolls and
pretty soon he has standing there leaning over or hold his stick in front of him so you
can throw down the pass line.

Come here and play, but if you look like you can win, well we dont like that.

The head guy at Trop in Laughlin said that this year, we cant take a chance on anyone
winning on our craps table. I told him, well if you beleive that why not have some stand
by the front door and tell everyone that.

I'm not bother by the chatter but I have had several experiences like dicesitter shared. I have have dealers lean on me. Hit the dice with the stick. Anything you can think of... I don't shoot from sl1 positions anymore. It's pretty tough for them to do anything like that to any other position. I do my business and leave.

Hey terapined, since you like chess so much, you should stick around Bally's tomorrow. There's going to be a really big chess tournament there, and you'll be able to check out some games from Grandmasters. The tourney ends on Sunday.

I had no idea and I'm staying here. No signs welcoming chess players, nothing. I talk to bell captain, yup its here. Went up to theballroom where its taking place. Its still early, starts at noon. Spoke to a couple chess players. I'm gonna watch some tournament play and check out the "skittles room" where chess players get together informally. Maybe play a game and see how few moves it takes to beat me lol.

Still playing the dont but betting pass when I shoot and losing usually. I'm now determined to bet dont even when shooting. Might as well be consistent. Was playing at Paris, could tell the guy next to me was a bit miffed. It was a hot table, when I left, he smiled. I get the vibe from craps crew they are not crazy about dont players. I think its because maybe they get better tips on a hot table and I'm betting against their tippers.

My free buffet 24 hr passes are blacked out this week. Will use them next year. On the plus side, total rewards visa made this lowroller a platinum member, no buffet line. Wow I get respect and I'm a lowroller.

I can understand heat from the bosses, but surprised that any of the dealers would ever work to upset a winning player. It ain't their money you're taking, and they make more money in tips from winners!

Totally agree. Every now and then I'll play the Don't, and dealers couldn't care less which way I'm playing. I think it's all in terapined's head because the dealers at Paris are actually some of the better ones. Very friendly (for the most part).

Funny that you mentioned about the dealers that think, it's their job to get you to seven out, one of the newest tricks that I've seen them do is to shove the stick down into the tub, just as someone that is on a roll is shooting, hoping that they hit the stick with their hand or the dice!

I never pay attention to what the stickman is selling, that's right selling. It's his job to get all the suckers to buy those prop bets, that nobody is hitting! The trouble is now days some of them think it's also their job to get the shooter to seven out. Just watch some of these guys and girls that will set the dice on a all seven set as they send the dice back to the shooter.

They also love to break the shooters rhythm, one of their favorite tricks is to get the shooter into some stupid conversation about where they are from or a sports game that depending on the time of they years it could be football or baseball or even golf.

Their chatter is a sales tool, that I just block out when I'm shooting, I'm not in a casino to make friends, and can do without all the BS calls that they are making to get the suckers to buy into the prop bets. I've never found it fun to risk my money on anything that I can't control 100%, and craps is something that no one can control 100%!

I some times wonder if DI's are playing craps in a different dimension,.. the other players never notice what the dealers are doing, but then again, those players could care less, they are only there to see if they can get lucky, and have a fun time! They are oblivious to what is happening on the craps tables they play on.

It seems most craps dealers are generally just not very happy, even when being tipped. Lately it does seem they want you to go out so they can get back to standing around chatting with each other about how stupid the craps players are.

Maybe a new gen thing for dealers but older ones are often bitter as well. I was thinking they were just mostly treating the red chip players poorly but it seems to go on up the chip color ladder, you got me to relax a bit there Wolf713, at least I know it's not just the red chippers they want to go down. lol

They really don't seem to care if you can see the end of the table through there often too large bellies or if you stay or if you go. The tables out this way are long. Maybe it's the attitude around these gambling mecca's or something? Might be nicer in isolated casino's.

I totally agree. And the ironic part is that dealers at the higher end casinos are often the worst. Can't stand those guys.

I don't know about every house in the world but my house this would never be allowed nor encouraged. We are never, ever told to interfere with the roll. If you're a guy standing straight out who picks em up and throws em before I even have a chance to stand back up or move out of the way, that's your problem if the dice come back and hit me, the stick, etc.

Yup, that's true - a stick person is supposed to sell the hardways, hops, props and while I loathe the hop bets, we don't even HAVE to sell at our casino. A chunk of our players bet ONLY hops and/or hardways with or without the field. However, sending the dice on a seven is NEVER allowed. Not even for a don't player. Sending them, bumping into a bet and having one flip over at the last second to a 7 is one thing - but they are NEVER flipped TO a 7 before being sent out. If we are sending the dice and they flip over to a 7 or a crap number, we are supposed to bring them back and re-flip them unless the player is persistent about 'as they lay.' I know I have been to casinos where stick people just slide the dice hard across the table and they hit the back wall and flip, but we are NOT allowed to do this at our house.

Says who? Some dealers talk because their job requires it. Yeah sure I won't distract a shooter, especially if I know they don't like conversation, but plenty of our regulars talk while they are shooting.

...

I find so many of these points of yours entertaining because I see 1,000 different things happen a night and every crap playing regular has their own superstition or conspiracy theory.. and this just adds to the list of things I've heard players banter about.

I like to play Craps at home, and when I get the chance, at a real casino.

Is there anyplace that a bunch of stick calls are listed?

I would like to learn some, and throw them out when playing at home with my drinking buddies.
