I spent 14 minutes looking through EvenBob's prior posts to try to understand his viewpoint on baccarat. The most relevant thread I found was from 2011, titled "Wizard's Venetian Review," under "Las Vegas Casinos," "Venetian and Palazzo." I may as well share here in case anyone else was unclear. Here's a sequential selection of quotes from the thread, no editorializing from me:

I quit playing bac because of Asian players and I'm a damn good bac player, I've had them shut down tables on me because I had a winning streak going.

Quote: sunrise089

Bob, if all that is sincere...well how is one, ex ante, good at baccarat?

Quote: EvenBob

The cards follows certain patterns at times and if you get in on the bottom of it, you can do OK for awhile.

Quote: Wizard

Quote: EvenBob

The patterns are there in bac. Some people see them, some don't. {shrug}

Quote: Wizard

I'm one of those who don't.

Quote: MathExtremist

looking for patterns in the gaming outcomes is as useful as looking for patterns in the carpet.

Quote: EvenBob

Playing patterns in bac is difficult because you need to not bet sometimes and they don't go for that on a crowded table, or any table for that matter.

Yet I saw Asian players doing it all the time, for hand after hand.

I used to get so furious that I finally just walked away from the game for good.

Quote: algle

I've seen casinos frown on this activity too, but in fact they should be laughing all the way to the bank when they see it.

Quote: Doc

OK, Bob, how about letting the rest of us in on the secret. What kind of pattern(s) can you recognize and then subsequently use effectively to profit from the pattern?

Quote: EvenBob

You won't learn it from me. Its easy, just research it yourself, pattern play is certainly no secret.

I will tell you this much, its a lot of work to learn, requires a lot of practice at home and a lot of patience in the casino. And sometimes it doesn't work at all on a shoe and all you do is break even. Which is better than losing, I suppose. When the Wiz said 'I don't see it', he probably wasn't kidding. I've tried to show a few others and they can't see the patterns either. No matter how hard I tried, they never got it.

Quote: sunrise089

Bob, I mean no disrespect, but am I correct that you don't believe in things like Singer's blackjack claims, the 99steps craps system, betting on red or black when they are "due," etc? In other words, are you otherwise a skeptical and logical gambler?

Quote: EvenBob

If you're asking do I expect anybody to believe me, hell no. Just making conversation.

Exactly

When we all play poker tournaments we pay attention to the other players. who
plays tight, who plays very aggressive. And if the situation comes up where we are
in a hand with some one that is very tight and their betting alot we assume they may well
have a hand , If it is against a very aggressive player that may well play any two cards
we may react differently.

BUt..... that is just information,it is not always correct.

When i say charting it is just keeping track of what happens. This is not rocket science, it
is it is gathering information that may or may not be helpful.

When we have a walleye tournament, we chart the lake, but that i mean if we have 3
practice boats, each one takes several locations and the end of 1 day we records the results,
day 2 we cover other areas and recover ones that hold promise.

The first morning of the event you never know where the fish are going to be, but based on
the information you have, you make your best guess.

Same with may craps record, i am always going to bet the same way on myself... on others
i may use the best information i have, you can bet just as much on one roll of the dice as
you do on some river card. I just want what ever information i can get.

In poker i am going to play my stong hands the way i do, i may play a weaker hand differently
based on my information.

All good gamblers makes their betting decisions on the best information they have.

For keeping a written record is fun, and it also

Peer; one that is of equal standing with another.

An alternative definition of "peer" from the same source you quoted from (online Merriam-Webster dictionary), which you "conveniently" overlooked is "one belonging to the same societal group."

In the context of gambling discussions, we are all peers on this board as we are all members of this group.

Peers most certainly can and do disagree, often vehemently.

Dicesetter, thank you for posting. It's informative to see other perspectives.

Clearly we disagree, but I'm glad you're enjoying the endeavor.

Casino employee's are very much flat earthers.
They don't believe in anything until its been
outed somewhere else and thrust in their faces.

As well you should.

Being a craps dealer must present many moments of schadenfreude.

ausgezeichnet!

Imagine if a person was a dealer how much money they saw people throw
away because they dont think before they bet.

Speaking of peering. one time in Milwaukee we were playing and i had the dice and hit the 7
and my friend next to me got them. At that time a very very good looking women took
a position on the end of the table. Now she had on a low cut top, it was so low that
it really did not matter if she had it on or not and she leaned over the table. My friend
gets the dice ready and throws them and as he is releasing them he looks at the end of
the table.( for the first time)

He damn near did not let go of the dice, and i was laughing the stick guy was laughing
i am not sure she got the drift of it, but i am thinking she knew exactly.

Now i am not sure if that is "peering" or that is a peer that is "ing..ing"

In terms of a peer? last year in Sams Town there was a cross dressor that came to the
table in a white dress, I am about 250 and she made me look like a poster child for
Jenny Craig, now i guess in all fairness since we were both at the table we would
be peers????
