How did play craps.? Read somewhere he played pass line with full odds and worked through the come line for numbers? Sessions short to limit exposure to house?

Oh, I don't know if I would agree that his eventual loss should be described as his "undoing."

Given his existential attitude toward gambling, that is.

The old Lee Trevino line....pressure is when your playing for 5.00 a hole with 3.00 in pocket.

I did admire when Dr Pepper starting using his story about Lee hustling on a par 3 golf course. He played with a Dr Pepper bottle as his golf club. When they balked at paying him anything, he threatened to change his story to a Coke bottle LOL They paid up !

My latest "streak" started on Christmas Eve 2012 with 15€, which I turned into 10 000€ playing Blackjack, Roulette and slots, online. :) Only to lose it back! Takes a lot longer time to make money, than give it away!

I was surprised, reading that column series, that Archie was ever even thinking of to pull up and take the money with him. He listed it as a mistake not to pull up when he had a mountain of money. I guess that probably would not have been an option, no matter how strong mind or anything one had.

Btw, if you were a billionaire, you could never feel the excitement and other strong feelings when winning or losing, because you had so much money, no matter if you win or lose. Feels good to be non-billionaire! With a thousand of millions in your bank account, you could never leave for Vegas with only 50 bucks in your pocket, only to turn it into millions!

I agree... sometimes I worry that if I won the mega-millions, my entire gambling hobby would be moot.

But Phil Ivey is worth $100 million and is still addicted to craps and baccarat.

And even if you become a billionaire, you can still gamble with casinos -- by building them or buying them.

they don't make them like Lee anymore. The guy was a tremendous shot maker. Had this little cut shot that just fell softly to the right. Top five tee to green players of all time. Couldn't play Augusta. Shot shape too low. He was talking during his backswing at St. Andrews, 72nd hole in contention. Classic.
