How does Orleans work?
If I play a max bet doey-dont...shouldn't I rack up tier points like no tommorow?

will the machine allow doey-dont?
or u mean 2 cards in 2player spaces? one play right, other playing dark?

for the riv, it's 5x odds on the shoot to win craps. but apparently with cashback/rewards, you get a lower house edge using machines with 2x odds but gives points.
Craps is paradise (Pair of dice). Lets hear it for the SpeedCount Mathletes :)

...I was actually standing right next to the craps unit this morning and forgot to check the table limits.

It's got 5x odds, a P/DP of at least 20$ and, unlike MOST units, you CAN bet the D/DP on come out. (Every unit I've seen lets you bet C/DC.)

Some quick math, assuming a nice, even 24$ P/DP, cancelling out your odds, and 1$ insurance on the 12, your average action per roll is just under 185$. It'll cost you ~1350$ to snag Emerald.

And... just to reiterate so I don't have angry people at me: Tier points are NOT the same as slot points and CANNOT be spent on food/etc.

Is this a Boyd property? You can probably get emerald for less on average by playing video poker, I would hope. Obv more swingy though.

Yeah, The Orleans is one of the bigger and nicer Boyd properties. It's west on Tropicana, about a block away from The Palms/Gold Coast.

Well, you could forego the insurance. With the above though, you're exposing 24$ per roll for 48-268$ action, with an effective risk of 66c per roll.

The other thing is that at 1350 rolls, and something like 40 seconds per roll, it'll only take 15 hours to hit Emerald off a fresh account. Not a VPer myself, but at something like 3 seconds a hand, that'd be 18000 hands and 13.88$/hand. (Assuming points accrue at the same rate.)

On the oooother hand, VP play gets you slot points, so the cost is dramatically lower. If there are any fullpay units, the edge should be less than the insured craps rate, plus the comps.

Uh, whoops. P/DP is 10$, odds 5x, table limit 500 and place bets 14.

In other news, Cosmo has huge limits and no comps. I think their loss rebate is valid to lose here though.

-----

Edit:

Cosmo
P/DP: 5-500
Odds: 2x
Table Limit: 5000
Place: 500
NO POINTS

Binion
P/DP: 2-25
Odds: 2x
Table Limit: 500
Place: 2-25
Allows P/DP?: No
Allows C/DC?: Yes
*Note: Bloody hell, this is the second time I've had the screen stop responding to me while placing larger bets... there goes 80$. ><

4 Queens - Relatively new.
See Binion. I'm pretty sure that the entire system is shared, even the points. Just not the individual card ID.

Stations is now $12 per 3 points on all their craps games. Effectively, the play has been killed at all major casinos.

Does that $12/3pts include odds? I thought I read somewhere it was just line bets.

This may be an anomaly or my memory is off, but I the last time I was at Red Rock, I'm pretty sure the machine refused to take cards. All units that I've personally tried that take cards count the odds bets.

Just flying home from Vegas now. I can confirm the following adverse developments:

CET: Now $200 per tier point/tier credit instead of $45. This was at Harrah's so I assume it applies to all CET.

Orleans: No points whatsoever. There isn't even a slot to put a player's card anymore. There is a sign indicating no club points. Bummer - guess it was getting hit hard.

Looks like this play is going away in Vegas...oh well, video poker it is :)

$200 per TC, what's the point of offering any TCs at all now? :-\
