In the Wizard's exceptions to basic strategy, single deck, there are 13 four-card compositions totaling 16 that call for a stand against a dealer 9. Should I ignore these and hit anyway if there is a 6-card Charlie rule?
I know the Wizard also has a chart for Charlie-Strategy, but I am confused about this particular situation.

Off the top of my head, I would say you should ignore the exceptions, and hit it. If you get an ace (giving you a 5-card 17 vs. 9), hit again.

That sounds reasonable, and thank you for the advice. But now I have more questions. How far should I extend this? The Wizard's Charlie Strategy Table says it is for 3 or more cards. I am playing single deck, with a 6-card Charlie. Shall I essentially let the Charlie advice override my single deck fine points? I assume I should continue to stand on a 3-card 12 vs 4-5-6, but should I hit a 3-card 12 vs 3 regardless of composition? A 3-card 16 vs Ten? A 15 (5+5+5) vs Ten?
And for that matter, what about the 2-card exceptions? Should I hit a 12 (7+5) or (8+4) against a 3?
I'm trying to figure out the best of all worlds, without over-analyzing myself out of a good edge. Wizard says the 6-card Charlie is worth .16%. That is quite significant in my view.
Thanks for your help and your time. I'm new, and looking forward to having a place to ask questions.

You already know the 6-card Charlie rule is worth 0.16%. Compare that to the 0.03% for knowing the composition-dependent exceptions for single-deck. So I would forget the single-deck exceptions and just go by the 6-card Charlie strategy.

Ok, makes sense. Thank you, I'll work on that.
