I was at Atlantic Club in AC last night for their $10K blackjack tournament.
it ran from 6-9pm and it was busy the whole time,
there were several hundred people who played.
Rules:
free to club card holders.
3 tables. one on one against dealer.
one winner, highest chip total.
you start with $10,000 in chips.
$100 minimum bet. No maximum.
you play 10 consecutive hands.
8 decks dealt continuous.
3:2, H17, DOA, DAS (3), RSA (3), No surrender.
they played in an open pit,
so people in line could watch.
rumors spread quickly as each chip leader was established.
there was no official announcement,
but you could see the count down of the stack.
first hour leader: 70,000 estimate
second hour leader: 150,000 estimate
third hour leader: 200,000 -300,000
nobody was certain!
the thing that amazed me is that you could easily figure
that you needed to double up at least four and possibly five or more times to beat the leader.
and yet people were not playing with this in mind.
granted, you have ten hands to get there so you do not have to go all in each time.
i went all in for three hands and busted trying to turn 40K into 80K.
my buddy busted on number five, trying to turn 160K into 320K.
just curious about other players' experiences in tournament play.
how would you play?
would you have beaten the winning total?:
