This table says yes to surrender if Ace showing:

But the BJ calculator says no?

You have an option wrong.
Surrender: Allowed with any dealer upcard.

No, perhaps, you are talking the difference between hit and stand vs 10. Surrender against ace improves the EV by almost 2% (vs. hit, or 16.7% vs. stand) ... hardly "half dozen".
