Was wondering if anyone has had success/failure using the HI-OPT 1 card counting system.

Also, could someone calculate the advantage over the house with the following:

6 Decks
HI-OPT I count values between +/-6
Dealer hits soft 17
Double any 2 cards
Double after split
No surrender

I used it back in the late 1990's playing single deck games in Las Vegas, Laughlin and Reno. It worked fine. I'd say. Hi-Opt 1 (with a side count of aces) is great for single deck, but not too good for shoes. You should have a counting system with a high bet correlation, like "halves" if you are serious about playing shoe games.

With Hi-Opt 1, you'll get an edge at a shoe game if you are accurate, find a good game with decent penetration, and have a large enough bet spread. As for the exact edge, there are too many intangibles.

For great comparative info on all the major different counting systems, I recommend "Blackjack Attack" by Don Schlesinger.
