Hey wizard! Love you, love your book, G102. Have a question for you. I want to play "by the math" blackjack for one month. My goal (just a hope) is to start only with $500 dedicate myself to my local and close casino 5 days a week with a starting on hand bank roll of $150 a day (unless you suggest otherwise) and by the end of the month intent in a $1000 profit. Without simply betting it all ($500) on two hands I would rather take the $150 and I was thinking $50, but I am not here for my own ideas, I would like yours. I am also concidering triple attack black at once out of the month... Your thoughts would be appriciated. Im a huge fan and speak of your book and website often. Sinclerly, Tyler of arizona 25 yrs old. This was originally in the ask the wizard thread, he ask tjat I move it.here. So anyone who also may want to weigh in is welcome. Thx guys!

Tyler, the quick summary.... Unless you are counting cards you will be playing a game where you are more likely to lose than win. If you make a profit using any bet size you were just lucky. To expect to do so would be foolish. It seems like you want to triple your money as a goal. Since in BJ you need to have enough bankroll to split and then double (imagine if you bet your entire bankroll and got a pair of 8's against a dealer 7), it is complicated as to what system will give you the best chance of tripling your initial bankroll. My guess is betting around 1/4 of your bankroll on the first hand, and repeating that plan. Others can give you more exact answers, but I would surmise you would turn $500 into $1500 about 25% of the time with standard rules that have about a 1% house edge.

If its 6:5 you is out of luck.
If its 3:2 you got a shot at it. Its still a negative expectation game though.
And you should be adequately funded for the amount of time you intend to play.

Put your money in the stock market.

Now THAT'S gambling, and with a long term positive expectation, historically.

For all but the rare professional, casino gambling is for entertainment only; sorry.

Tyler I'm a little worried for you. Are you working right now? If you find a full time job working 5 days a week you will take home $1000 or more guaranteed a month. Spending five days a week at a casino is going to be a hard grind and eventually will lose its appeal, not to mention you will sometimes lose your shirt. If you worked hard during the week, felt good about making a difference, you would be getting something for sure. Then you can visit the casino on a weekend with the only goal to have fun and not lose too much of your hard earned cash. Good Luck and God Bless!

Whats your stop loss? If you are going to do it all day like a job you have to have discipline. If I read correct your bankroll is 500 and you are planning taking 150 a day to the casino and betting 50 a hand. My guess is you are going to be getting off work early quite frequently. Bad Idea dont do it. Unless you work full time ( or sell weed ) and this is just an experiment in your spare time follow the good Fathers advice.

You don't have a chance.

Try to learn to count, then try a much larger bankroll, like $10K. And bet at the green level. Even if you were to find a favorable game and get a .5% edge and at an average of $50 (spread 1-4)/hand, you might manage $100/day. And be prepard to take a bath. Of course you will get backed off from time to time and if your local casino's the only game in town and they notice you winning all of the time, they will take notice.

Same casino every day 5 days a week at a blackjack table. They'll probably start keeping tabs on you to make sure you aren't really winning some time after you become recognizable.
