Does anyone know of any good online resources to learn counting (sort of like the wizard's BJ trainer/simulator that yells at you when you make a wrong move)? Also, what casinos are "best" to count at, and which are the worst?

Save yourself the time and effort! I do not really see how counting does anything. What would you count? An eight deck shoe with a continuous shuffler? What would be the Return On Investment in relationship to the time that you put in practicing?

Some casinos have reputations as "sweat the money" joints that worry about anyone who is winning no matter what the reason might be. Obviously you want to avoid those places.

Go get a BJ game at razor thin house edge and trust to your luck rather than chasing an illusory "gonna practice like mad, gonna learn to count, gonna get rich and not get noticed".

The bottom line, when you read books about the famous guys, is that they found they needed teams, teams of actors basically. But the margin is slim after all, good money for one guy who is really good, but dissension set in when they had to split it up. Not bad money for students but then they got older.

Hey, if you are a natural at this, that's one thing. In college I ran into guys who effortlessly knew every card that had been played in every suit just playing "Hearts"! So if you can be good at it you probably already know it. Read the books that are out there. The Wizard probably has something too. And the systems are simple enough in theory. Just be ready to earn an Oscar when it comes time to explain why you are changing the size of your bet. Winning lots of money earns attention too.

I used to know a good site, but I can't find it anymore...

The best way to practice is with a deck a cards: go through it 1 card at a time, 2 cards at a time, or slowly fan out the cards. Try it every way to practice counting the cards in different ways. Always set 2-3 cards aside before you start to test whether you made a mistake.

Without a team, it's probably not going to make you rich. But if you like playing, you should learn to count to shave off the edge.

I've heard that for a long time its been team play simply because the sudden increase in bet size is a sure tip-off. Ofcourse someone who keeps going from table to table with large bets that win is going to be noticed as well. Joining a table when the count is favorable once can be okay but doing it consistently will get the suits curious.

And you mentioned guys playing hearts and knowing whats been played ...
Don't forget GIRLS. A sure tip-off to the casino is someone winning at blackjack and not having a girl hanging all over him. Its got to look legit. Even if you happen to mention that your wife is off playing slot machines, they get suspicious!
