The Blackjack portion seems to be the only part of the survey for which there has been recent effort to keep it up to date. Of course, everything keeps changing constantly in casinos, and the pandemic has seemingly intensified the amount of changes. Thus, even the 2019 survey of Blackjack games is now badly out of date.
Wizard has commented in the past that this is a very labor-intensive process to update these surveys. Rather than have our busiest and most senior guy (Wizard) running around to every casino in Vegas, maybe we could institute some sort of a system where multiple people can provide updates on changes. (I actually wonder whether we had this kind of system in the past, and it has fallen out of use.) I believe that Video Poker surveys are kept up to date in this way on another site.
Let's keep this discussion going.
Moses: It's not us against us. It's us against them. All we really need to do is write specific and significant changes to the list.
For instance, 5 places in Northern Nevada are out of biz or no longer offer blavkjack from LV Bears 2019 update.
The Wizard of Vegas site has a survey on which games are in which casinos -at least, Vegas Casinos. This includes blackjack games, their rules and their minimums.
WOV Casino Survey site
Yes, I think I can post a link to the master list of Vegas table games surveys.
I think the most important information on the poker variant games survey is which casinos offer which game, and hoiw many tables. Maybe you are a Pai Gow Poker fan - which casinos have more than one table?
We routinely get news about new games getting a trial at XYZ casino, but I guess we just never update the survey for that.
Casinos know which games they offer and that top-level info is often on their websites. Every game distributor knows exactly where their games are and might be interested in assuring that our survey is up to date so that players can find those games. And forum members who frequent a one or more casinos probably have a pretty good sense of what is being offered. So, there may be several ways, conceptually, to tap into information for periodically updating a survey.
However, I don't think it makes sense to launch a new effort on this when covid-19 is still affecting operations. But I am interested in feedback.

And I'm sure the mix and number of games offered has changed quite a lot - and with a pandemic that is stubbornly sticking around, this is all in flux anyway.

I think that your suggestion is reasonable. Just knowing which games are offered (and at how many tables) would be useful info for the majority of players who like certain games. Much of this info could be obtained from websites and fill in the rest with phone calls? Having this info in one place is what WoO/WoV is all about.

I regard trial placements as short term experiments.
There should conceivably be a separate survey just for trial placements. These would be understood to be unique games and they may be withdrawn from the floor unexpectedly.
Sure would be nice if some friendly casinos would share the information by email; game, number of tables, table minimum at a start. Save themselves some time on the phone, save the list liaison some typing, get a listing.
It is not wise to count cards at Ceasars Palace. The are more prudent ways to spend a competitive players time and energy.
A conclusion from something I read. My understanding a very good Vegas player. Although self professed. Still seems intelligent IMO
