25 cent hand fee on blackjack

Every hand the player pays a quarter to play. 8 deck shoe / $2 minimum with $300 maximum. All the other rules are pretty standard.

Right around $5 an hour to play? Some players get bored and go all in with whatever they have left (25 to 50). Do not think they are counting.

Is it worth it to count this game and go from 2 to 25 or 50 with a rich deck?

So for $2 bets the ante increases the house edge 12.5%. Not worth it to suffer that, waiting for a favorable count to bet $25 where the ante still increases the house edge %1.

They might call it an ante, but it's really a fee, since nobody can win any part of the ante.

Kind of deceiving since a quarter seems like nothing, sort of like how a 6:5 vs 3:2 blackjack payout might seem inconsequential, but it isn’t

Is it a quarter per hand or a quarter per decision and a push on ties?

I assume thats if you play in the minimum range and anything above isn't charged a commission?

I think it's a great idea for the casinos to offer $1 blackjack and charge a commission, unless you bet a higher amount. All the tables would be full.

I disagree. There’s nothing deceptive about this one. If you want to play a $2 minimum, one hand costs one quarter. Straightforward. Easy to calculate percentage.

For someone who wants a live Blackjack experience at a physical casino and can’t stomach higher minimums, they can have it, except it comes at a higher KNOWN loss (before you even get into expected loss) than the expected loss sometimes is at the higher minimum tables.

I don’t know how it will perform there, but I’ve seen this done before and all such tables have closed sooner than later.

I think the problem is that the quarter quickly proves itself to be way too much relative to base bet if a person wants to have any decent chance of a winning session.

I would think of it as 1 in 8 base bet WINS are 100% negated, and you still lose the hands you lose.

Variance may kill them at $10 yeah. But ironically, the $10 game has a much better EV. Assume 0.5% house edge means losing a nickel a hand at $10. 1.5% house edge (very bad rules) loses fifteen cents.
