Casino 1, All cards dealt face up, double on 10 and 11 only, no double after split, 6 to 5 BJ, cant resplit aces
Casino 2: Cards dealt face down, double on any 2, double after split allowed, cant bet more than 5X the amount of previous bet at anytime, BJ pays 6 to 5 also
Anyway I have some questions. Is there any True Count that justifies doubling down on a 6 to 5 BJ? I would imagine against a 6 or 5 with a TC of +6 or more or something along those lines, but Im just guessing I dont have the actual numbers.
Which game is advantageous? Im pretty sure casino 2 would be but the cards are dealt face down in a pitch game and not everyone shows their hands so theres times when you cant know the exact count.
I have won 5 sessions in a row and am working with a small bankroll that I have just built to over 2k and looking to keep going. I won 224 today not including tips to dealers and waitresses and am home now. I feel like I should call it a day but theoretically shouldnt we be putting in as many hours as possible to maximize EV? Im very well known at my local casino and I dont always feel like talking to people if that makes sense. Im really looking to build this roll into something substantial and never look back.
When I stay focused and stick to counting usually things go well enough. Its when I drink and chase etc that I can run into trouble and blow my whole roll.
Im wondering if other counters out there play 1 or 2 hands? When the count becomes + do you switch to 2 spots?
Quote: NimadamusI know the first answer will be to not play 6 to 5 at all. But I dont have much choice. The 2 casinos close to me have singledeck, but are both 6 to 5.

Read my lips.... YOU HAVE BEEN LUCKY! The likelihood of 'building a roll' playing 6:5 BJ is either slim or none..... and slim left town...
You DO have a choice. You do not have to play BJ.
It would seem you have been lucky so far. Quit while you are ahead.
BTW- why wouldn't you count the tips you lay out against your winnings.
Quote: billryanThere are people who claim they can beat a 6-5 game with an altered count, but most people I know are pretty dubious.

I hear that a guy you knew from the forums and may or may not have known personally from back east, Automonkey, did quite well playing 6:5. He just used a monster spread (over 100-1 ) and they allowed it because at the time, casinos thought 6:5 was unbeatable.
If you run simulations, you can beat it with about 40-1 spread I believe, but you are going to need a large bankroll to support the high end bets and there is going to be tremendous variance. I can't imagine it being worth it to anyone.

I don't know, but there was a mention of him recently on Blackjackinfo, which I think I can mention because it is owned by the same company as this forum.

Super super nice guy, but just not a vision of health. I hope he's still with us.

During my AC days, I saw AM on the beach doing some sort of strange yoga/exercise/stretching regiment. I didn't know it was him at the time, I later learned it was. I didn't have a great relationship with him anyway, so I wouldn't have approached him regardless. Lets just say he had some extreme views about things that didn't make us compatible as friends or anything. AND he let you know those views. Despite that, I learned a lot from him and even had some good conversations about blackjack when he stayed focus on that. I hope he is still around as well.
I'm looking to play 6/5 blackjack on purpose to earn up to a higher player card status. I have a feeling everyone is going to hate that idea. I used to play all Craps until I learned to count and still want my status right now. If anyone can point me towards a good system before the weekend thank you.
Quote: HiOpt2PoorI've been adding a second spot on a high count. I had one local dealer tell me if I did he would have to shuffle. So I didn't add the spot. All the others have not said anything.

I of course do not know what extras you will get from a higher card status, but the likelihood that it will be worth the additional money you will lose playing 6/5 is low.
Do you know how much ‘status’ you gain per expected dollar loss you will be incurring?

Of course not. If he did he wouldn't be doing it.
But to answer your question directly I don't have my EV calculated yet - I'm using HiOpt2 with A side count. (I posted here elsewhere for some help finding charts for betting levels for this system).
Thanks So Much Blackjack Gurus

HiOpt2Poor,
CVCX is one of the BJ software programs developed by Norm W:

This software pays for itself hundreds of times over... I know.
Hope this helps!
