Not really a math guy so here is my question. If I only played this with the dealer showing a 5 or 6 how would this effect the house advantage of the game as a whole if the dealer stayed on soft 17? If it's even possible to figure out.

Your question is not well worded -I'm not sure which two cases you wish to have compared. And please remind us what the payout is on the dealer bust bet you are considering.
With Stand on Soft 17 and 8 decks, the dealer will bust with these probabilities:
upcard = 5: Dealer Bust = 0.4179
upcard = 6: Dealer Bust = 0.4229

So many better men, a few of them friends, are dead. And a thousand thousand slimy things live on, and so do I.

Well, here's the story. I play mostly poker and I stayed at the Rio last year for the WSOP. During some of my down time I played some blackjack at a 3:2 table. They had the dealer bust side bet but I didn't play it because it was the first time I saw it and didn't know the house advantage. I'll be going back there again next month and was wondering if I played it on just a dealer 5 or 6, how much more of an advantage that would give the house. Payout was 1:1 if the dealer busted.
But, I just left the Rio website and it looks like they don't even offer that sidebet anymore. I don't remember the other two casinos that are nearby offering it either.
Are the odds you gave good for the dealers 3rd card or until they make a hand or bust?

There are also players who use odd strategy in the Bust It version of blackjack, such as standing on 12-16 against any dealer up card. I've even dealt with a player who would not hit on A-4 vs Dealer 8 because "I might pull an 8 and miss out on 8-8-8 Suited" Sure enough, dealer turns up a 2 and pulls an Ace!
