1) it's Las Vegas
2) it's the weekend
Today I wanted to do the same here in downtown Reno and found zero $5 BJ 3:2 tables. There was one seat at a $10 table at Silver Legacy. El Dorado never has $5 3:2 BJ. Circus Circus removed their 3:2 video BJ game and replaced it with 6:5. So if it's zero in Reno (in three casinos on The Row), I would guess it's going to be zero in all of Las Vegas.
What do you guys think?
There are those stadium gaming outfits -- I think TI and the Venetian both have them -- that have $5 blackjack. I've never played it though.

Said originally it was 8:00, just before the last drawing of the night, so the absolute busiest time. Any other time there will be even more seats open, in the "wee hours" can often find a $5 table completely empty. It was at Aliante, city of North Las Vegas, not Las Vegas, but the second or third most expensive off-strip casino built in the entire valley (along with Red Rock and GVR), so very good representative of any Boyd or Station's. Never knew Reno had such a scarcity of $5 blackjack. But Las Vegas has more than enough to go around even on the weekends
I forget that place.
Used to have itsown twitter feeds in English and Spanish.
Its Big Strip, Little Strip, Downtown, .... with NLV being a separate official compilation but so few casinos that a sneese can change the stats.
I went to NLV to play the don'ts my first trip to Vegas. Mismatched cartridge shells in the parking lot. I left broke in just a few minutes.
Aliente brought the place up but it is still bottom feeder's paradise. no frills means more money for the player which is good.

Las Vegas valley is over 400 square miles with thousands of miles of roads, The Strip is about three miles and downtown is about one city block. When looking in only one very small area it might be hard to find a $5 table. When looking at the entire region, there are hundreds of those tables -- and even at the busiest times plenty will have open seats

I, however, am one of the shackled. If my companion considers "Las Vegas" to encompas only The Strip and primarily The Venetian, scads of attractive tables in Mesquite might as well be in Outer Mongolia, just as scads of unattractive slots at a grocery store or barber shop might as well not exist.
Men on their own or serious about wanting good odds at low buy-ins have the freedom to roam over 400 square miles, but I'm on a much shorter tether.

I should clarify that I only checked "The Row" which is three big casinos... the equivalent of the Las Vegas Strip. Two or three blocks away is Harrah's, Sands Regency, and Cal-Neva, all three of which have $5 3:2. Then outside of downtown, like Atlantis or Rail City or Western Village, have good rules and availability.
btw I decided to put Circus Circus on the ban list (north end of the row, next to Silver Legacy)... they removed the table games, and they removed the Playboy 3:2 video BJ. They have video table games similar to the setup at Silver Legacy, with 6:5 BJ, 00 roulette and craps. It's really sad.
Hardly anyone plays that at Silver Legacy unless it's ridiculously crowded, which it was last night. They had overflow tables and those were full too, so if one insisted on playing BJ at Silver Legacy, one would have to wait for a seat, bet $25 a hand, or get ripped off by video BJ. Barf!

Quote: YogiBerraNobody goes there anymore - it's too crowded
LOL
Quote: MrCoachRentzI believe the California Downtown had double deck $5 3:2 BJ last December while we visited. We played for a while.
Since December, 6:5 BJ has infiltrated Main Street Station, so it's likely this has happened at The Cal as well.... I will know in a month when I visit.
Fremont has a single 2-deck pitch, $5 game. No DAS. A six-deck $10 game that might have DAS - didn't ask. The other side of the pit is now all CSMs.
Other than El Cortez I didn't see any other $5 games, but I was not doing a survey.
Golden Nugget has a $10 6-deck game: 3:2. DAS. Surrender. RSA. I think the minimum goes up as traffic warrants.
Quote: VegasriderPlenty of $5 BJ in Reno that pays 3:2. Yes, $10 tables are the norm, but Western Village in Sparks has it. They are owned by the Peppermill. The 3:2 out number the 6:5, you really have to work hard to find 6:5 in this city.
Fortunately the scourge of 6:5 has not hit Reno much. Silver Legacy on the weekends (the place is packed), they always have 3:2, but the minimum will be higher. When it's crowded, a $5 bet is only available at their stupid 6:5 tables. El Dorado is worse, though, as all BJ tables are 6:5 except in the high limit area which is $25.
Circus Circus used to have 3:2 video BJ (Playboy Bunny) but they removed that and replaced it with a bigger electronic table game that has 6:5 BJ, craps and 00 roulette all in one. What a sad place.
The last two times I went to Western Village, the $2 min and the $3 min tables were full, so I played craps (only $1, that's fun; I don't do $5 craps).
Cal-Neva always has 3:2 BJ, single deck or double deck, but I hate that place and will never go back. It's dirty and full of homeless people and so-called "service animals". Every other patron is either a stinky bum or has a dog. Pets do not belong in casinos (or restaurants or grocery stores)... rant over.
Outside of downtown, I don't recall ever seeing 6:5 BJ though I haven't checked everywhere (since I live in downtown, why bother). I was pleasantly surprised to see 3:2 at Atlantis, given that it's a 5 star casino resort.
Rail City, Gold Dust, Boomtown or any of the Carson City casinos would probably have regular $5 tables. Yes, Western Village cracks me up with their $2 minimum table and that place has the best steakhouse in Reno.
I would love to live downtown, especially at the Montage. Currently I live right in the heart of Victorian Sq. Next best thing I guess.
You are lucky. I can understand a casino being a bit flexible on the amount of the minimum bet, but I feel that at least it is a historically "honest" game at 3:2 rather than the more oppressive 6:5. Financially it would take a few games to have an effect but emotionally it is better right from the start.Quote: KevinAAFortunately the scourge of 6:5 has not hit Reno much.
