the problem is he didnt take it out on me but the dealer.
the girl in my opinion handled it like a champ
this guy keeps getting bad hands
he gets a 14 or something i forget and its his turn to act, and he points at the shoe and says something along the lines of "give me a monkey"
the dealer looks at him and i look at the guy and look back at the dealer and she said, "you want me to take the card out"
the guy repeats his first statement
she takes the card out
he gets a 10, and the dealer repeats her statement again and this time he doesnt want the card
he said "i never said hit"
i just stared at the dude like he was nuts and there are some crazy a holes in that casino
floor was called and the dude got to keep his hand and the next dude had to take the card if he wanted to
crazy

If the guy had 14 and hit and got a 10, didn’t he bust? Why would the dealer ask him if he wants another card

no he didnt want the card
the floor was called over because he was disputing his wording and that he never actually wanted to hit
this is why its confusing AND shady
he never wanted the card in the first place and was being confusing on purpose
the floor didnt make him take the 10 so he still got a chance to see the dealer bust if they did i forget i dont think they busted

It got so I wouldn't play at the same table with him.
Quote: billryanI had a friend who would start out making very clear gestures but gradually get very sloppy so he could try this on a big bet.
It got so I wouldn't play at the same table with him.
The hand gesture was clear as day his index finger was no more than a foot away from the shoe pointing directly at it and when this whole thing started I had a feeling he was doing it as soon as he raised his hand and said something ambiguous but who am I to stop it the only thing that could be done was to let him hang himself
I dont play a ton of black jack anymore but not often will they allow a hit without a hand jesture.

One thing I took away from my time at the Venetian is how much dealers hated shot takers like this. They bothered them much more than advantage players and outright cheaters. It is situations like this that a hand signal is supposed to be given, of course shot takers will make ambiguous hand signals there too and then dispute it if the card isn't what they wanted.
I agree with the dealers on this one.
I saw a guy muttering "face" and mistook it for "faith".
I've seen some women give hand signals far too up in the air rather than over their cards in which case a dealer will often reach out and do the signal properly for the benefit of the camera and then he will act.
I think its not only childish but very rude for players to engage in this 'I never said hit' stuff. If you say 'I want a three" it means you want another card and are hoping that it is a three but know you have to take whatever it is.
Make your decisions and signals clear or beat it.
It is probably wise to move away from that table just so the crew doesn't start associating his behavior with you and have it reflected in your comps or something.
Quote: BlackjackGuy123if I signal for a hit, and the dealer stays, and then busts, I won't speak up, but if I signal for a hit and they beat me then I will inform them.
The key is hours and hours of practice in front of a mirror at home , you have to perfect that “kinda a hit, kinda a stay” hand motion
Casino does not recognize/acknowledge any verbal instruction. I do not have the capacity/authority to give verbal instruction to the dealer. The dealer should not have acted on my verbal instruction. The fact the dealer has acted should not prevent me from changing my mind.
I hate dealers who skips me and assume I want to stand on soft 18 or 2x9s. When I am in a good mood I will act quickly to correct the problem. Otherwise I act leisurely and force the casino to roll back the cards already played.

Y'know I always did wonder where the monkey thing came from. I hear it all the time and just assumed it was because of the primate relation or something.

When dealing craps one night, a non-English speaking dude comes up to the table and observed the game. After a few minutes, he decided to give it a go. I guess the only part of the game he could figure out, I'm assuming, is that every now and then people would throw in money and say "crap check" That's the name of a bet in craps, for those who don't know. He proceeded to do that....only that...for the next few hours. Every few rolls he'd throw in money to the center and say "craps check", with the "S" included.
