Stopped by on opening day around 11:30 - an hour after the "grand opening"

No trouble finding a parking spot no more than 50 feet from the entrance. Traffic was less than "very light."

Didn't visit any high-roller room, but all of the pits in the open spaces were 8-deck, 3-2. Hand shuffled. Maybe 8-10 $15 dollar tables. I played one-on-one on a $15 table where I triggered a shuffle when I waked up. Played three rounds until a people wandering by sat down. Some tables were full but there would not be a problem getting a seat at a $15 or $25 table, Penetration was maybe 6 3/4 decks.

Interesting S17/H17 arrangement. There were two adjoining tables in one pit. One was $25, the other $15. The felt on the $25 table said S17, the $15 felt said H17. The table limits were the usual video display, such that the lower limit could change. So if they raised the $15 table to $25? Two identical tables side by each, one would be H17, one S17. I guess they would never LOWER the $25 to $15.

Hotel supposedly has, count 'em, 84 rooms.

Already smelled smoky, to this non-smoker.

Extremely low key.

Initial impression is that the competition has nothing to worry about. People driving to or from Cape Cod will drive right by Mohegan/Foxwoods/Springfield to go to Tiverton? Not likely.

No.

Lincoln Park => Twin River Casino
Lincoln Park, a slot parlor, was razed many years ago to construct a new facility at the same location near Providence. Twin River opened as a slot parlor and transitioned to a casino several years ago by adding table games. I see they are now adding stadium games. Can 6:5 blackjack be far behind?

Newport Grand => Tiverton Casino
Newport Grand was operating in a building built for a hijali fronton, located in Newport near the Naval War College. The state decided to close Newport Grand and apply the license to a new facility in Tiverton, about 15 miles distance and less than a half hour to drive. I think Twin River might be handling the management, but this is a separate casino.

The two casinos are about 28 miles apart, a half hour drive. Hey, it's a small state.

Hey, it's a small state.

Yeah, drove thru it once several decades ago. Couldn't even pronounce half the towns. Nearly got hired there as a chef 'bout a decade ago.
