im not looking for sympathy i just want to warn anyone who is interested in card counting telling him or her that losing 50 max bets can be very real and very common,

50 max bets half of 20k is lot of money 50 max bets of 40k still remains alot of money and all for what? 10-20$ hourly? + you are fighting w/ the casino personal and ploppies getting backed off losing for months on end god forbid an year! haha quote from bj attack anywho yea goodluck its a tough road ahead for you adding and subtracting cards is the easy part, accepting the casino just raped 1/2 your bank account followed by a ban is another

i loved how ben looked over to the cam and said i dunno even know what im down pff 47k? oh well they look so poor they had to share a motel room and sleep in same bed haha and spent all that time and energy for what? 7500 after plane ticket and food and housing? yea carry on you card counters

again dont get me wrong no bj book does it say tables mean atm machines, it just means maybe if everything goes right after a year or 2 years you should be right where your suppose to be, which is what your hourly average bet is that may work for some individuals who dont care if they gambled with and edge and lost their bank accounts, some play boy mansion guy who has nothing better to do, but i feel bad for all those who walked in hopes of making that non existing 10$ an hour wage with that non existing floating advantage and lost 3900$ hard cash in under 4 days at the tables swings and variance too much for the average joe in usa but carry on i look down on card counters

Dafaq? If 40k is 50 max bets then your max bet is $800. If you're making $10-20 an hour with a $800 max bet, you're doing something wrong. Are you max betting at TC +15 or something?

no if he blows up and loses all our money he has to pay us back the 4,000+ 1% retrurn however if he does decide to succeed in doubling the 10x 4k then he owes us 800 and gets to keep the 3200

how is that a losing proposition? if were back betting with him (and fail to) that could prove negative results on our 2nd bankroll maybe back bet only when it looks like when hes winning lol

So, if I lose your $40,000, I have to pay you back $40,400, but If I turn it into $80,000, I make $8,000?
Am I following you?

There is no question at all that high level card counting and the corresponding correct betting method gives the player the edge and they can and do win in the long term. ZCore13

Not certain by what you mean when you say 'high level card counting". Do you mean counting the high cards or do you mean making bets at a high dollar amount??

I think it was SouthPoint that ejected three friends who were each using a different counting method even though their play had just started and they were still at the red chip level.

So if casinos are not at risk, they sure think they are.
And if casinos are indeed at risk, Sweat The Money joints are super vigilant.

This makes me feel like being philosophical.

The average person is mediocre at best at what they are doing. I don't care if you are talking about gambling, or driving a car, or playing golf, or anything / everything for that matter. That's the definition of average.

That's why the average person struggles so much.

Successful people are different. Successful people have figured out how to be in the top 10% or better with at least one thing and spend a lot of time doing that 1 thing.

Really successful people are top 10% of better at several things or top 0.1% at one thing.

No matter what Sid thinks, counting works and has been proven so. The ones that fail have no concept of RoR, BR considerations, game selection, watch and follow idiots like Michael Morgenstern on Youtube, and a host of other things.

My aunt loves the slots and has had several winning years. I can confirm I have seen her players club statement. Her method for playing is to rub the screen and not have anything cold in her left hand... Not an AP.

Even ploppies win sometimes and sometimes they stay positive for quite awhile especially if that hit one big jackpot.

Some number of blackjack players who don't even know basic strategy double their money every day. It's a result of short sessions and variance.

I assume your Aunt is playing on the East Coast. In Vegas, and generally anywhere west of the Rockies, it is the the right hand that should be beverage free.

It might be the right hand. It's a complex system I've not been able to fully digest. I'll run a few simulations on kitty glitter and post the results shortly.

Yabbut, according to Dunning-Kruger's research, that garden variety excessively self-esteemed mediocre stuff is nothing special; it gets much worse than that. Because the BELOW average person will 'know' he's even farther above average than the merely mediocre person does, and the most profoundly incompetent mentally impaired individuals will often 'know' with the greatest certainty that they are the most skillful of all. Meantime, those who are objectively quite competent will tend to believe they're merely doing some simple easy stuff that they feel practically everyone would naturally be able do.

Dunning & Kruger's original academic study:
Unskilled and Unaware of It: How Difficulties in Recognizing One’s Own Incompetence Lead to Inflated Self-Assessments (1999)

Or a more easily readable short version: Why losers have delusions of grandeur
Quote:

Charles Darwin observed that “ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge.” That was certainly true on the day in 1995 when a man named McArthur Wheeler boldly robbed two banks in Pittsburgh without using a disguise. Security camera footage of him was broadcast on the evening news the same day as the robberies, and he was arrested an hour later. Mr. Wheeler was surprised when the police explained how they had used the surveillance tapes to catch him. “But I wore the juice,” he mumbled incredulously. He seemed to believe that rubbing his face with lemon juice would blur his image and make him impossible to catch.

For daily illustration of the Dunning-Kruger text, see also the WoV forums: esp. any random baccarat horoscope discoverer, dice spell caster, roulette telepathy, or brilliant drooler political pontification thread.

Conclusion: Civilization is most likely doomed, in due course. But on the bright side, doom will probably take a while, because those who are sure of their causes are slow.

Knowledge is shaped like a point down cone. When you know very little and are at the bottom, there is not much more you can see at the next level up.

When you are higher up the cone and you look up, the next step is huge.

I see this interviewing people at work. The better people are with any given software package, the more likely they are to rate themselves closer to average or just slightly above average.

Not always, those that know very little are the "experts"
