Hi guys! I usually only play at an advantage recreationally but I'm taking my bil to Vegas for his 21st. I usually just grind Indian casinos and on the few Vegas trips I'll play a few shoes of high limit blackjack while counting and pray for positive variance. He's a low roller and while we paid for the suite (the signature) and his meals he's bringing his own gambling money. I plan on just flat betting at the Cortez or something like that to just let him get the experience of playing. Any other good places to take him? I think we'll for sure hit the horse derby or whatever it is called at mgm or the d. Any better places to play blackjack? What about craps? He works at foot locker but is good with money. I would guess he's going to bring 2-500 to gamble.

Low limit VP can be a fun, and cheap, introductory... VP2FREE.com will have all the VP listed as well as their denominations. Perhaps off strip you can find some 9/6 JoB for cheap... Double whammy to see a bit off the strip too and play some cheap stuff. Maybe pick up an American Casino Guide or GWE book for the match play coupons/etc and show him a little comp hustle; if he's conservative with money he'll enjoy that.
You're not going to find a lot cheap on the strip and with that gambling budget I'd suggest downtown (like you're thinking) or off strip and use the strip for regular fun of drinking, pools, clubs, etc.
For the love of the game do not let him play 6:5 blackjack just because it's a $5 minimum... and let him know that it's 4x as bad as "real" blackjack.

Yea definitely no 6:5. Cortez has good low limit games right? Do you know anyone with 3-5 dollar craps. Odds is not that important. Hell probably only take 2-3x even if 300x is offered lol. Any other "fun" games like sigma derby?? Just listened to your gw/ae. Good show. I have dreams of quitting my job and joining a team but I'm pretty sure my wife would leave me. It's hard enough to carve out the time for a hit and run on an Indian casino, she's not happy even if I'm up 2sd up
Does mirage really have 3 dollar 3:2 blackjack on a playboy machine?

Yeah Cortez has some of the best games in the country. I think the only place on the strip with $5 craps (and packed tables) is Casino Royal. Downtown should have $5, or maybe $3 during off times. There's plenty of "little AP" stuff you guys could do in each and every casino to keep busy and on the +EV side of things if you wanted =).

I don't have the time to scout around. If you want to send me a pm that would be awesome. If not I completely understand. Thanks for the help!

The Wizard's blackjack survey should give you at least a dozen places to check out: https://wizardofvegas.com/guides/blackjack-survey/
As well as the Wizard's craps survey: https://wizardofvegas.com/guides/craps-survey/
GWE = Gambling With an Edge. They have a coupon book similar to the American Casino Guide.
Also, the "little AP" things I was referring to require zero scouting.

Jokers Wild out in Henderson has $1 Craps during the week, and $2 on the weekends. The dealers aren't very experienced, so you have to watch to make sure your place bets and pays are correct. Last time I was there, it was a pretty fun game. The pace is slow, but that just means your BR will last longer! :) They also advertise $3 BJ, but I didn't play any there.

Pretty sure the Mirage Playboy pays even money for BJ.
Hooters has a $1 BJ table that pays even money for BJ, but a couple free drinks makes up for it.

Why not just find a 25 cent Game King that has blackjack and play that and get the free drinks?

GO TO TREASURE ISLAND.
They have a $5 automatic shuffler machine that pays 3/2. They have just 1 (one) table like this near the cashier cage, others are 6/5, so you'll have to ask the dealers or the pit. It's also constantly full unless you go late morning. They also have an abundance of $10 min shoe blackjack H17. This is definitely +EV if you get a few drinks and just ride out $5 at a time.
Casino Royale's website says the still have $3 craps "at select date and time." You should call them to find out. If not, bubble craps are just as fun once you reconfigure (you also don't have to get crap from the dealers for not tipping).
Also, suite at the Signature? You sure you want to do that? If you haven't been, it's quiet the walk to the main casino which is the MGM, and then you'd have to do some additional walking if you want to casino-hop down the strip. I personally think if you want to give you BIL an excellent time, you should try to get a suite on the strip and be closer to the action instead of out in the boonies.

We like the signature. It's one of our go tos. We have stayed at almost every hotel on the strip and we enjoy mgms pool other facilities and having late night access to the sginatures pool. We usually stay there or the vdara or wynn. We usually just uber around and feel like extra couple minutes are nbd.
Thanks for all the tips.

I was at TI at the end of April and they had plenty of $5 BJ paying 3:2. Either double deck or 6 deck. The single deck game was 6:5. Craps was $5 as well. This was a Wed - Sat.
