The guy in the video must be insane, but it's pretty entertaining. Where is this casino, and how is this possible? Do you know any crazy & unusual Blackjack rules at a casino in the states??
That was actually kind of amazing. Dealer flipped the 6 under and just thought to himself, "Surely, the next card has to be an 8 or 9....please God, please!!!!"
Quote: RSMost places I've seen that allow splitting of tens, it doesn't matter the rank, as long as it's a ten value card.

I thought that was going to happen the second that six was exposed.
How does one get a double down when splitting 10's and not doubling 21? =)Quote: rainmanAll them splits and no double down.

Doing it online with play money doesn't count
It's just a game; the guy is obviously having a good time, so who gives a crap if he's not playing optimal strategy.

I can assure you, it was in a B&M casino with real money and the right TC.
Quote: TigerWuAll those people in the youtube comments calling that guy an idiot and hoping he would lose, because he wasn't playing "proper" blackjack.

He's messing with the Sacred Flow Of The Cards. Bad things happen when someone does that, and usually not to that player.
he had at least 2 blackjacks on those splits
Quote: 100xOddsinteresting the dealer didn't pay him 1.5x immediately on blackjack.

I thought on most games, bj after split was just a 21 that the dealer could possibly tie. Seems like that's what happens with split aces, anyway. Is that not how split tens work, too?

hm.. sounds logical.
wonder how much +ev if split 10s get paid 3/2 if blackjack?
I think that half of the decks must have been Pinochle decks.
(ii) In some games, (eg Double Exposure) you might want to DD 21 after splitting pictures - again my local casino doesn't allow you to hit nor double once you've got 21.
Quote: charliepatrick(i) My local casino only allows splits of identical picture cards (I asked this question as I was looking into a BJ variant).

I'd find another casino. If that's not possible, simply avoid the game.
Quote: gordonm888How many decks were they playing with? It seemed as if it was NOT dealt from a shoe.

Right at the end, when the camera swung to the dealer's hand, you could see what was at least a 6 deck shoe, might even have been 8. I didn't look beyond seeing the shoe, though.

Aren't you in England? They have those silly rules.
The UK used to have strict rules (which actually protected the innocent but prevented plays such as soft doubles and splitting 4's) but after some de-regulation these have now all gone. Thus nearly all casinos allow re-split As, DDaS, double any 2 cards, s17. It also means that casinos can offer more than the basic range of games.Quote: IbeatyouracesAren't you in England? I had no intention of splitting 10s in basic BJ but there's a trial game around which means you do split them against dealer 15-16s, hence the question (as it affects HE quite a lot).
