I don't remember what this game is exactly called, but it's at Motor City in Detroit. The main hook is that there's a $5 side bet where if you get blackjack, you get to press a button to spin a digital wheel. I believe the possible landing spots are $50, $55, $60, $65, $70, $80, $90, $100, $250, $500, $1,000, and Jackpot (which is always $5,000). If you get one ace, you get even money (same for two aces I believe).

Predictably, people who spin the wheel mostly get the lower payouts. I have seen a guy get $1,000 on there before. I've played a few times since I try almost everything. Best I did was $500 and $250 on back-to-back hands! I have no clue how you would figure out a house edge on this game since I have no idea how the mechanics of the wheel work or what the odds or paybacks are. Also, it's a 6/5 table...

They have this wheel at the MGM in Vegas as well. It was at the 6/5 table with $15 min. You're right, it is probably impossible to figure out the HE on that one due to the unknown probability of the wheel.

Claudia, the table games manager at MC, once told me they'll never get 6:5. You can't trust these fools.

I'm not sure what you mean by "if you get one ace... same for two aces." Are there Aces on the wheel and you just get even money to what you've already bet?

Ignoring the aces for now, and making the assumption that the payouts are NOT random and do NOT have the same probabiltiy of hitting... We'll take the average payout from the wheel to be one of the lower amounts at $60.

You'll hit a blackjack 1 in ~21 hands... from this you'll spin the wheel with an average payout of $60, however in this time frame you've bet $5 per hand on those 21 hands for a net loss on the side bet of $100 (the 1 you hit a BJ you get your $5 back I'd assume). Thus, you'd lose $40 per 21 hands and if they're playing at a "slow" rate of ~65 hands per hour, one could expect to lose $120/hour playing just this side bet.

***Again this is with a LOT of assumptions, but just to get the mathematical ball rolling on how bad this "appears" to be. Now if they were "somehow" all random and the same probability, then the average payback would be $610 (again also ignoring whatever these "aces" do). That could be interesting... If the Aces pay even money on whatever your bet is and you're betting an average of $50 (flat or ramp) then that could be interesting. I'd need to know how many aces are on the wheel.
Playing it correctly means you've already won.

LOL... 6 hands in I got a blackjack, spun the wheel, and hit the $25k jackpot... This is where I dump all my money online to play this for real money, right?

When the temporary MGM opened here, they had one table with a Monopoly side bet. I don't remember the limits of it, but you initiated it when you got a blackjack. When you did, Pennybags would ride a train around a Monopoly board. Then you pushed a big green button and it would "randomly" stop on a space and you'd get a multiplier for your side bet. If you bet $5 and hit a 15x space, you'd get $75. Never saw this anywhere else.

To clarify, if you get one ace in your hand (but not blackjack), you get even money on your $5 side bet, meaning the dealer gives you $10 back. When I or someone else has gotten a pair of aces, we got the same payout, it's not like we got double or anything like that.

It's one of those side bets where the red circles light up and the dealer locks the side bets up in the rack. Also, it's typically a $10 table, but sometimes $15 during busier times.

Here's what a casino full of CSM's looks like.

There are a couple of tables open way down at the end but only a couple of players.

As per the link I posted.

By placing a Bonus Spin progressive side bet, players have two ways they can win:

-If they have an Ace in their first two cards, they are paid even money.
-If they are dealt a Blackjack, they will press a button that spins a virtual wheel in order to win various money denominations, including a top prize progressive.

Sounds like your talking about the AGS side bet......

Harrah's is/was running a similar sidebet this past year, but the big prize was.a Kounts Kustom motorcycle valued about 25k. $5 flat bet, 6 deck shoe. Any ace 1st 2 cards paid 2 for 1. Any blackjack spins the wheel. Very countable. Minimum payback $50. I enjoyed playing it.
If the House lost every hand, they wouldn't deal the game.

I'd think you'd just have to set up the probabilities as the Wizard does on his page for the side bet:

Outcome Pays Probability Return
Jackpot ($5k) 1,000 units .0833 83.3333
$1,000 200 units .0833 16.6667
$500 100 units .0833 8.3333
... ... ... ...

Of course there's no way they have equal probability, as that would be quite the player edge ;-). Can anyone get them to confirm the actual odds of hitting each of the spaces? Or is it listed on IGT, or is it "variable" and set by the casinos?
Playing it correctly means you've already won.

Personally, I don't list prize wheel side bets in my list of them because the prizes are weighted. They won't tell you the weights, so the odds can't be quantified.
