For obvious reasons I don't want to specify where, but a casino is offering a variant of Spanish 21 that allows for re-doubling up to a total of 3 times. This isn't completely unheard of. However, the casino also offers the "double down rescue" option, but only forces you to surrender your original wager, "rescuing" ALL of the double down wagers.
I.e.: 1 unit out - double 1 unit - double an additional 2 units. Then Rescue the 3 doubled units surrending only the original 1 unit wager.
The only rub I saw was that you could not "rescue" if you re-doubled the final time, going from 4 to 8 units in total. However, given that this could allow for 4 units in play; surrending only 1 if you face sub-optimum draws, this seems like a potential AP, but it seems like it would also require a new, more aggressive BS for low hands.
Any math geeks here willing to give a rough house edge or strategy variations? The game appears to be standard in all other regards: 6 deck, H17, re-split Aces, DAS, Late Surrender.
