Hi I am kind of regular 3-6 poker player. While I was waiting for my line for tables I started to interested in BJ too. I was usually going BJ for fun bets. Now interested in being regular black jack player too but I have couple questions.

When I played BJ I usually play against dealer myself no other players. So first question should play with dealer only or playing with other players is better ? I am asking this because when I played against dealer only I know where to hold. When I watched table with players, when dealer is had small first card they ask hit when its no need, took pic than save dealer from bust ?

And if I am playing with other players which side better to take seat? right side that cards coming first or left side that card coming last? it looks left side where takes the last cards and last word looks better ? Like I can check what other players got and if they hit what they got then consider dealer and my hand then decide Hit or stand?

And I am planning to start with 500 or 1000 $ and with the small bets like 10 to regular bet 5 to bonus bet and 1 $ commission so each round will cost 16 $ or with 5000 and 50 regular and 20 bonus bet plus 1 $ commission so 71 $ each round? is this make sense ?

THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR TIME AND SHARING UR KNOWLEDGE and if these are funny questions even for new players forgive me

There is no significant difference EXCEPT that the more players at the table, the slower the play and therefore you lose less per hour.

It can be annoying, but on balance, the other players have no effect. Sometimes they cause you to win, sometimes they cause you to lose. It averages out almost exactly.

Makes NO effective difference. Knowing the very few cards on the table would not be enough to influence your play.

It makes NO sense to play a game where you are charged commission. Play proper blackjack.

^^^^^^ This, but I'll reiterate a thing or two. Do NOT play a game of blackjack with a commission. That's not blackjack, it's a robbery.

If your plan is to actually make money, then don't play yet either. You're talking about just playing "for fun" with some extra money, right? If you're trying to take the game seriously and make money then you'll need to learn basic strategy 100% and simple card counting. Regardless of any 1 night variances or what anyone else tells you, you can not beat the game unless you can track the changes in the house edge and bet large when the shoe is in your favor and small (or not at all) when it's not.... and there lies another question. Is this game dealt from a shoe, or a continuous shuffler?

If you're looking to play this game just for fun while you wait for your poker tables, then I'd suggest finding a non-commission game with the best rules you can (yes you can find different rules at the same casino) and learning to play perfect basic strategy.

If you're interested in learning more about properly attacking this game, I'll reference you to a few articles I have here on WOV in the articles section (A to Z Counting Cards in Blackjack):

Playing it correctly means you've already won.

Fakara - believe me, the only funny questions will be the ones you DID NOT ask about. The forum is relatively forgiving, so you'll either get an informed and helpful answer (like from OnceDear or Romes), get ignored (no one answers), or a short curt comment.

I am also a blackjack first timer, with about 16 hours (4 hrs/day) of live experience - I studied and learned Basic Strategy for 3 weeks and practiced games on my iPAD everyday.

When I played my first games a week ago, my challenges were different from yours. You have prior experience playing poker, but I've never played a live game, so I wasn't real comfortable. I had some good foundation knowledge about Basic Strategy, but because I was nervous, I could not quickly extract what I memorized from my brain.

Listen to and appreciate OnceDear & Romes. There are others who haven't posted yet. From the main Forum page, scroll down to BLACKJACK and read about the other Q & A.

While I won a little (beginner's luck?), my real victory was that I know I am starting to play correctly, therefore I have already "won".

Enjoy!

When you forget what to do, just ask the dealer. Most dealers are nice and will tell you the correct play. People think you are playing against the dealer but in fact it's the opposite. The dealer is your friend. He/She wants you to win so you can tip more. The best way to tip in BJ is to place a 1 dollar chip along side your bet so the dealer is in on the action. I only do this after a few wins. If they know you are willing to tip, they will generally be super nice to you.
