I was at a table with A7 against 10, BS says to hit soft 18 against 10 and I caught a 4, hit again and another 4 came up. I decided to stand with my hard 16 and the dealer drew a 10 (No holecard bj) was I right to stand(reason for standing is rule of 45)? should I have hit?

Without knowing all the conditions (counting/etc) I would stand the multi-card 16.
Playing it correctly means you've already won.

This play probably (hitting A,7 vs 10 then standing on hard 16 vs 10) probably gets the weirdest looks from the civilians.
DUHHIIIIIIIII HEARD THAT!

Reminded me of something lol. This civilian told me "you're willing to hit 18 but not 16? WTH is wrong with you?"

It's usually not about supposed courage and beating our chests to announce to the world whatever it may be. We expect to lose money when we are dealt soft 18 vs. 10, therefore we hit. Then we stand on the multi-card 16 because without other information, the odds do favor it. If we knew what the next card to come out was, we would all be rich right? not. Dealing with other people at the tables is an added aspect of the game.

Wanda Wilcox: “I can’t stand people. I hate them.”
Chinaski: “Oh, yeah?”
Wanda: “You hate them?”
Chinaski: “No, but I seem to feel better when they’re not around.”

Hitting A7 vs T (and then standing) is common....at least for me.
The best is insuring 15/16/17 vs A and then surrendering. If that doesn't get weird looks, something wonky going on.
