I've always felt an advantage in sitting at the end of the BJ table. I got to see the 'runs' - i know this is unscientific, but I believe in it anyway.
Today, I figured I had a real advantage.... Imagine the dealer has an 8 and you are sitting on 13. Ordinarily, you should hold. But if you're at the end of the table - I believe you are better off drawing. In this scenario, if the next card is a 10 or 9, you lose either way - but an 8 or lower, I believe helps you get the advantage in the hand. So just by sitting at the end, there is no 'additional risk' of drawing on 13....
Is this mathematically true?

Really? How do you figure that 'normally' you should stand on 13 v 8? Obviously you don't, regardless of where you sit (short of some index play), so wondering where you came up with that idea?

Do you always split aces? Or never split against a little card where dealer is highly likely to bust, in order to preserve the bust cards for the dealer?

Welcome to the forum. Short answer: no. I suggest you take a look at The Wizard's Simple Strategy before you play again. Use the site to learn about what works and what doesn't. If that's not your style, then please come play at the casinos I visit. They need your money to pay for my fun.
