Quote: WizardofnothingAny idea ballpark price this goes for?
I can't imagine it would be very expensive because they don't have much quality advertising or impressions.
I have no idea how many paid subscribers they have on BJ21.
Quote: HunterhillStanford Wong has announced that he is trying to sell BJ21 and CBJN. Maybe the wizard should buy it although he probably has a non compete clause .
Wow! That will be the end of an era. I'm a Green Chip member of BJ21 and CBJN subscriber. I have huge respect for Stanford and will sorry to see his presence on the Internet go away, which I assume it will.
I'll mention this to my boss Josh. I'm sure he would be interested at the right price.
Quote: WizardofnothingI just emailed him a bid of 25k
They say the general formula for the value of a business of 4 times annual earnings, which would be $400,000 in this case. However, there would need to be a big adjustment for losing Stanford and the branding he brings. However, 25K seems like an insulting bid.
If forced, I put the over/under on the sales price at $150,000.
If you do win the auction, I volunteer to stomp out the trolls from the Green Chip pages.
If it's not someone who's known, liked, and trusted already on the site and in the advantage BJ player community the subscription renewals will likely plummet IMO due to the personal info issue, many if not most subscribers have been there for a number of years.
OTOH, there's areas of the sites functionality that could definitely be improved and could attract new subscribers, along with better search engine optimization. content is good but it's a pain in the ass to navigate.

I just checked BJ21 website and cannot see any such announcment.
Where did you see this?
I was a Green Chip member for many years when I was playing seriously but I am no longer a member.
The BJ School lessons in BJ21 was how I first learned to Count. Only later I bought many BJ books and went into more detail.
For someone wanting to learn how to count the BJ School lessons is about the best free available information on the web.
The Green Chip pages (at least when I was a member) has a ton of information that you will not find elsewhere.
It is a place for professionals, semi-professionals, serious amateurs and aspiring to be on of those.
Hopefully the buyer would be a Professional player or someone from the Players perspective and not from the casino perspective.
He claims it gets more traffic than WOV.

I heard it has gotten more traffic than WoV for 18 years in a row...

It's in Green Chip, I think under "general."
Or directly to here and the thread about the 18yos
I m shocked he would sell it for less then a dollar royal

Alan was serious about selling his forum. I suspect it's because he's scared to ban Rob Singer. PS: I think they're doing some creepy meetup at like 4am at HRH Friday morning.
It's worth $2500 just to ban him from the site.Quote: MrVI read that Alan is offering to sell his site for $2500.00.

PS that sounds very low he probably meant 25k
Quote: mcallister3200It's an interesting situation, I think the list of suitable buyers, regardless of interest, is probably pretty not that large.

The site itself, aside from the people and the content, is TERRIBLE. It is stuck in about 1998 with the "forum" technology they have. I am no bleeding-edge guy, but what the WoV site was before the redesign was pretty much all I need or want out of an internet community. Even now it's still pretty good, just more ads which I understand under the circumstances.
But yeah, folks will run away quickly if they don't trust the new owner.

I can't believe after all the time I took off that thread is still alive.

...You have your platform. You have your site. You now have BJ21. Both of which I have stopped participating on...
I need to decipher Jason's above statements. KJ seems to say that BlackjackTheForum's owner now has Bj21. Did Stanford Wong really sell bj21 to Norm?

Bad wording on my part Artemis. That is not what I was trying to say. I just meant that he now has that as another platform for his agenda, since I no longer participate there.

Perhaps Stanford will take another crack at dice control. HA!
It's incredible how an intelligent man could be sooooo gullible.

Having participated at bj21.com for a while, Stanford could come across as...hmm...how do I put this...naive? Obviously he's brilliant and one of the founding fathers of card counting and all that. But one time he posted a question asking if he should take $X in slot free play or $X in table-games match play. I don't know if he was making a point or something but it sounded like he was honestly asking.
The slot play would be worth $X*.90 (roughly, depending on the hold of the machine played) while the match plays would be worth roughly $X*.49 (it was valid only on even-money bets), so no contest really. I think he understood but it was a weird thread to observe on one of my early days on GC. Perhaps there was something in play I didn't understand, but it sure didn't seem like it.
(18 X $11 = $198)
You such funny man, you want white rice, or you want fried rice? You tell me now! I not got all day, which rice? (Old joke, no offense to Mr V) just 2FQuote: MrVAlan should have lowered the asking price to $198.00.

my impression:
1) there are really many APS there, i can never say any things. too much pressure. and the articles are all good quality. that is a proof the boss there is powerful.if the boss is Stanford Wong, then he is really famous in China.
2) the forum needs improvement a lot, i logged in by some accidental clicks. the second time, i wanted to log in, i cannot find button, all were asking for paying, but i have paid..., i emailed them, while waiting for answers, i found it.
3) also the outlook needs improving and functions, also.
it is my hope it is sold well and improved well and make my paying more worthwhile.
Stanford Wong is John Ferguson (which he does not hide). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanford_Wong - he is not Asian. You can find his picture easily on Google images.Quote: tomchina123there are really many APS there, i can never say any things. too much pressure. and the articles are all good quality. that is a proof the boss there is powerful.if the boss is Stanford Wong, then he is really famous in China.
