The casino I visited has special rules added in.
The dealer only get the second card after everyone is done with their round.
-This makes getting a blackjack possible for the dealer at the end of the game.
You can only surrender before additional (3rd card onwards) are dealt.
-The cards that are dealt to the players before you will change what card is dealt to the dealer.
-You cannot surrender when dealer has ace as the first card, you can only buy insurance.
I've been ****ed by this 3 rules last night. How would you approach this?

is it OBO, OBBO, lose all against dealer natural, or is a dealer natural handled as a dealer 21? Do they pay player naturals before the end of the round?
OBO - You lose your original bet to a dealer natural, but not any split or double bets. ("Original Bets Only")
OBBO - You lose your original bet to a dealer natural, and you lose any busted bets, but not any split or double bets that didn't bust. ("Original and Busted Bets Only")
Dealer Natural as 21 - if a player hand draws to 21, it pushes a dealer natural.
May the cards fall in your favor.

I am pretty sure it's OBBO, busted bets and original bets are lost to 21.

That sure is what it looks like. S17 and relatively friendly surrender look OK.
In general, don't worry about how other players play and how it affects the dealer's draw. Sometimes it helps, sometimes it hurts, sometimes it makes no difference.

In the UK this is the norm.Quote: 92968...dealer...second card after everyone is done...
In the US (and some other places) the dealer "peeks" for Blackjack, whereas elsewhere the dealer doesn't take their second cards until after everyone has acted. In some places, such as Europe, all splits and doubles lose on a dealer Blackjack - this is known as ENHC (European No Hole Card) and you should pay a slightly more conservative strategy (not split 8s or double 11s, nor AA vs A). Other countries handle things differently, and this is what the OBBO refers to.
The other factor is that other players can affect the dealer's second card and sometimes you will curse a ploppy when the dealer didn't bust, usually not noticing the times when they actually help you win! Sadly that's part of the game and it can be frustrating.

Rules are written in sand in a casino.
I quit playing bac because they have
one set of rules for Asians, and another
for everybody else. The Asian players
get away with murder and the rest of
us get nailed on the smallest infraction.
This is just one example, I have many.
My wife likes to play bac with me, so she
sits next to me and bets what I bet.
I see this cute couple of Vietnamese
twin girls betting each others chips
all the time, so when my wife makes
a mistake I fix it for her.
The pit comes down on me like I had
thrown dog crap on the table. I point
out the girls that do it on every other
hand and they say 'we haven't seen
it'. The girls keep doing it and giggling
and looking at me. I point out a few
more times to the pit what they're doing
and they just shrug.
I have a boatload of other examples, I
got so frustrated I gave up the game.
And I do pretty well at bac too.

Forgive me for going off topic but EvenBob reminded me of a funny (or not so funny depending upon how you look at it or your perspective) story referencing about gaming "Asian style"... plan on some smoke in your face! A huge portion of the Asian gaming community all seem to smoke and like smoking as much as they like gambling, as you likely already know.
I was playing at the Revel in AC, the first smoke-free casino in AC. From the blackjack pit I could see over into the Asian gaming pit, which looked sort of desolate with lots of dealers standing around staring at the lights in the ceiling. I said something to the dealer about it and he said the Asian pit has done horribly since day one, which he seemed fairly certain was due to the no smoking. I couldn't help myself and had to throw a bit of humor in there with, "Well, they wanted to be "trendy" here at Revel and spent big bucks to do it. It seems to me that they should have hung on to enough extra money to fly in some of those "trendy" Asians from California or something because we don't have any of those here in New Jersey!"Hahahaha
Revel went under within a year or so after that.
