this site says start at 2x # of decks: http://www.countingedge.com/card-counting/reko/
so 8 deck = -16

this site says start at -27 for 8 deck: https://www.qfit.com/book/ModernBlackjackPage71.htm

which is correct?
and if you're only pressing your bets when the count gets to -2 or better, then you're just flat betting ALOT of the time?
Craps is paradise (Pair of dice). Lets hear it for the SpeedCount Mathletes :)

If you're going to use REKO, then you should follow Norm's advice and start at -27 for 8D. Norm invented the REKO system (based off of the KO system) and did extensive testing with his excellent software. Everything you would ever want to know about REKO can be found in his book or on his site.

Also, the suggested betting ramp for 8D starts increasing at -3, not at -2, so you will be flat betting a lot at the beginning of a shoe if you're not wonging.

Welcome to card counting. lol. Seriously, this is the case with whatever count you play. 80% of the time you are playing at a disadvantage or at best even and should be flat betting the minimum. Of the 20% of the time that you bet more than minimum, half of that you are only at a slight advantage and it is only worth pennies. It is those very few really good opportunities that you need to pounce on.
