I am curious about the significance of the number of decks for the basic strategy rules, in particular, the deviations in strategy with infinite number of decks from the 6/8 deck strategy.
I assume, the deviations are due to probability changes caused by the removal of cards in hand from the shoe, but what buffles me about this is that there is no way to know all the "missing" cards anyway, not only because multiple hands are played between shuffles, but also, because there are multiple players at the table, so, the probabilities that go into the basic strategy calculation, taking only one player's hand, and the dealer upcard into account, are off anyway. So, it is not clear to me from this consideration that this "partial" accounting for the played cards is really necessarily a good thing.
Can I get an educated opinion on that?
