Doesn't matter if you were playing reds or playing purples, but you had your big bet out, then you split to 3 or 4 hands and you started doubling as you went, and the pucker factor kicked in:
Stories like those.

I could share 3 that I remember, but let me start with the first one, and I remember it pretty well.

My big bet out, just a red chip table, but I'm at table max
2,2 vs dealer 3

Split, draw 2, split again, draw 9, double and draw picture for 21
Next hand over is 2, draw 2, split again, draw 5, 9, for 16 ( exact cards are guesses, but 16 total )
Next hand over is 2, draw 2, split again, draw 3, 6, 7, for 18 ( exact cards are guesses, but 18 total )
Next hand over is 2, draw 5, 3, 10, for 20, I'm happy, maybe

Got 5 x's big bet on table

Dealer had up 3, turned K, I'm happy, draws 7, for 20, not happy now.

Result? Won the double, lost two, pushed one......
No change, but probably needed new underwear. True story, about a year ago.
Oh, and big bet still out, lost next hand :'-( 2F

I was playing at Harrah's AC one night when the following occured:

8,8 vs dealer 6

split, draw 8

split, draw 8

split, draw 3, double, draw 6 for 17

The rest fill up to an 18, so I have 5 bets on the table. Dealer turns over a 5 and draws a 10 for a 21, I lose all 5 bets.

The details are a bit fuzzy as this was probably a dozen years ago, but this was a roller coaster of a night. I was down to the felt, made my way all the way back to even ($150 on a $10 table), then lost it all as the dealer went on a tear.

Same dealer paid me back a few years later with a straight flush on three card poker.

I was spreading $50-$250, had $200 out at GVR

Dealt 8,8 vs dealer 5

Split, drew an 8, split again

Hand 1: drew a 2, double and drew a 7 for 17
Hand 2: drew a 3, double and drew a 4 for 15
Hand 3: drew another 8, split again, drew a 2, double to and drew 8 for for 18
Hand 4: drew another 3, double for the fourth time to only see a 3 come up for a total of 14, obviously stayed.

It definitely got the heart racing. The dealer turned over paint, then drew paint, and I picked up a quick $1600.

It was double deck and that was the last hand, so I colored up and left.

Had 3 $500 bets out. Other player at the table had 3 $500 bets out. Dealer 5 up. All 6 hands were triple downs. All 6 hands ended up with stiffs. Dealer miracle bust.

$18,000 table swing on that one hand.

One more, happened at Red Rock

I had a flight out of Las Vegas at noon? In any case, me and my gf head down from the hotel room to play blackjack the morning of our departure. We're playing a DD pitch game, and I'm counting as usual, but spreading small, as I was up for the trip and trying not to give it all back. In fact, I bought in with my winnings, just around $700.

Well, my gf was getting itchy to leave, she likes to get the airport early, and I'm the exact opposite, the less time I have to spend there the better (and not just McCarron, but any airport). So, I keep on telling her, one more shuffle, one more shuffle to the point she starts getting visibly nervous about missing the flight (we weren't in any danger at all from my perspective).

I tell her to make it easy, at the top of the next shuffle, I'll bet all the chips in front of me in a single bet, parlay once, and then we can leave. The reasoning being that we wouldn't have to take the chips to the cage if I lost, and we could save some time. I was OK doing this knowing that I still have my original trip bankroll in my pocket, and that the house edge off the top of the deck won't be that much. Additionally, I announced it, so there shouldn't be any concern that I'm counting or playing some other angle, which in this situation I truly was not.

So the dealer shuffles, and I stack up all my assortment of chips from pink ($2.50 denom) to blacks in the betting circle, I really didn't know how much I had. I draw a 20, and win the bet. The dealer breaks down the stack and pays like color for like color on each chip denomination, turns out to be $850. So I carefully stack the whole thing back up and now have a towering bet of $1,700 in the circle. Of course the supervisor is watching all of this with interest, and the dealer looks at me and says "really?" Of course I'm not going to back down especially since I had said this was my plan, but to be honest, although I had the cash, I sure didn't relish the idea of splitting or doubling the next bet if the situation arose.

So I get my cards, and see that first one is paint, and I squeeze the second one from below it, and it's an Ace!! I throw it on the table face up and the table lets out a scream. It's always funny to see how some customers get nervous when others have big bets in action. Any way, in two hands I turned $850 in $4,250. Played one more hand ($200), won and gave the dealer the $200 winnings, colored up, and bolted for the cage and then the airport.

I assume this at the Mohegan Sun during their triple down promotion. Wish I played blackjack back then. That must have been a super nerve wracking day!

I put in a lot of hours that day but couldn't get any traction. I had a small win after giving it my best shot. I saw some rather large losses in the 50k range. You don't hear about them.

I have a good story. When the palms had their blackjack/slot rebate I would sign my friends up for cards and lose 1000 at bj or slots. For slots I would quit if they got up 600 and for BJ I would quit if they won a 4000 bet (7k profit). For slots you got back the full 1000 and for BJ you got back 500 (since they give you 1000 in promo chips but they take them if you win)

So for BJ it looked like this: Bet 1000. If you win bet 2k, then 4k. If we won the 4k bet we quit. So I had three friends do this on different days and shifts over the course of a weekend. One friend actually won his 2k bet, and I chickened out on the last 4k bet, While the other lost the 1k bet. I regretted not going for the 4k bet so I decided I would for sure do it if given the option on friend number 3. So the moment of truth comes and friend #3 wins his 1k bet, then pushes twice in a row and we leave because the count was negative. We leave go grab a drink (I had 0 drinks at this point since I was counting the double deck, they were all drinking though so we look like a bunch of bachelor party Vegas guys, which we were) and come back to the same DD table. Friend bets 2k and the running count goes to 2. He asks me if he should parlay it and he is super nervous as he nor any of my other friends gamble at all. I tell him yes parlay it let it ride!!!! He bets the 4k and we get aces against a dealer 4. I immediately whip out 4 grand plop it on the table "ALWAYS SPLIT ACES AND EIGHTS BABY!"

The pit is delighted and I don't think they thought for a second that we were exploiting their loss rebate. So we get a 10 and the first ace and a 9 on the second ace for 21 and 20 and everyone proceeds to freak the **** out!! We are celebrating and cheering but I, having experience with grabbing your ankles and letting the gambling gods have their with you knew it was not over. The dealer waited for everyone to come back and stopped cheering as she flipped up a nice little 7 to go with her 4. I felt physically sick but knew I was still a big favorite to win both. Next thing you know she turns over a very slow and very ugly face card as we accepted our fate. So I actually only lost 1k for friend #3 cause we pushed on the 21. It was brutal and I really felt like crying. Could have had 12k more dollars had she made 17 18 19 or busted, and 8k more if she made 20. She had to make 21!! I still won 1k between all 3 friends and then got 500 in free play from the 2 losers. So it was 2k profit for the weekend but should have been 14!!

Without a doubt the best part of the story. Only to be topped when you retell it that another Ace came before that ugly face card! =/

Phenomenal story though, and even more awesome that you still made a grand!
Playing it correctly means you've already won.

Speaking of the palms...I was there one day waiting for my cousin to get out of a concert. So I walked around and back counted some shoes while waiting. Dude has $2k bet, 2,2v9. So he splits. Then resplits. And splits again. One of the deuces he catches an Ace, so of course he doubles and ends up with 16. Next hand he gets a 10 and stands or something. He doubles another poor hand and gets 17 (his best hand). And another stand-on-14 hand.

Long story short, boss and floormen are licking their chops. Dealer pulls a 2 underneath, then 5 then 6 for a 22 bust. Suits went from ecstatic to agony instantly.

I saw someone buy in $20,000 cash, bet $10,000, doubled his 11 against a 6, ended up with 20, and lost to the dealer's 6-10-5.
Took the dealer a few minutes to count the $20k out, and it was gone in a matter of seconds.

I've also seen someone betting $2000 to $5,000 a hand... in the high limit room... on a continuous shuffle machine... per his request. And he would make foolish plays such as standing on stiffs vs 10/A and doubling any soft hand vs any dealer up card 2-6.
Don't you wish you could talk sense into these high rollers or borrow their bankroll so you could count on a DD or 6D game?

Honestly, most of the pit folks that I know will unabashedly cheer for the player. It doesn't matter if it's $10 or $10,000. It costs nothing, promotes goodwill and doesn't change a darn thing. The house still gets it's money. It doesn't matter what they think on the inside.

Had a weird thing happen recently. I hope it was my imagination, but I really don't believe it was.
I was playing my crazy game, I was losing. I was tipping (way above average from what I've read in other threads here).
I had a 1K bet out, table max, doubled it for a push.
Still out, push again.

Out for third time now, dealer had been friendly ( or at least appearing friendly ) had a decent crowd at a mostly full table, some could approximate Basic Strategy, others not. Everyone's drinking at least a little. Everyone is having a good time (well except perhaps me, cause I'm losing, and playing for very serious money for my net worth). But I'm trying to roll with the punches, and I think my dismay at the bad streak hopefully doesn't show....

Anyway, 1K out for third time in a row, I got an 11 ( don't remember exact cards), dealer has a picture, peaks for Blackjack, I start to push another 1K out, dealer looks directly in my eyes, closes his/hers and shakes his/her head back and forth twice. I thought, just for a split second, 'was that a message'? Of course the dealer doesn't know the next card in the shoe, neither do I. The moment was so brief, happened so quick. I pushed out the 1K to double, don't even remember the card. Dealer turned over another picture, which beats my hand, gently scoops my 2K, and actually said to me, 'I just didn't feel it that time'.

Rattled me, I colored up and left the table for a 30 minute break.
I think I will always believe that dealer tried to signal me that dealers hand was 20.
I don't cheat, I don't want signals from dealers, I don't want trouble, it's all sort-of a Karma thing for me.
I'm still rattled. 2F

I was at a $25 table at Rivers Casino in Des Plaines, IL about 2 years ago. I bought in for $400 and got on a roll. during this roll I was upping my bet by 50% of a close facsimile that I could do with $5 chips or $25 if the action got bigger. I won my $25, $35, $50, $75, $100, hit a double down at $150, BJ at $225, and then won $325 and $500, and I was all set to bet $750 on a hand of BJ, when the pit boss came up and switched dealers on me. At this point, I colored up to 5 purple chips and some change, walked to the cage, bought myself a nice steak dinner at the Hugo's Frog Bar and got a nice steak. If you are familiar with Chicago, they are partners with Gibson's Steak House.

A little less than a year later, the pit boss that changed the dealer on me walked into my dealership and bought a car for her daughter that was heading off to college. which I made quite a hefty profit on.

Another weird hand, big money ( big is always relative, still $300 bet on $10 table, H17)
8, 8, vs dealer 5.
Split, 8, split again, 2, double, 8 for 18
Hand 2: dealt 3, double, 10 of hearts for 21
Hand 3: dealt 8, split, , dealt 2, double, J for 20
Hand 4: dealt Q for 18

Got $2100 on table. Dealer has 5 up.
Turns 7, draws 7 for 19

Result, won 2 doubles, lost a double and single, net +300.

No question in my mind (based on what you're saying) that the dealer was trying to help you by signaling the 20. You're a nice guy, you're betting big, and it's running against you; I've seen dealers, many times, do something to keep that player from a complete crash-and-burn. Yes, it's cheating, but maybe in his/her opinion, it was enough you were going to lose 1K on that hand on top of what you'd lost to that point. So maybe they "forget" to take your blind bet, mis-set the hand a little in PGP, give you a clue like they did here, something just to change your luck when the house has had it all their own way. Different houses have a certain tolerance for dealer "mistakes" in your favor, usually only the long-time dealers and floors can get away without a black mark on their record for doing it, and if the PB gets called in, their discretion is even wider. Nobody will ever admit it, and if you draw attention to the "error" they will correctly take your money, with thanks. If you're a customer they want to encourage long-term, and you're getting the short end of it but staying polite and cheerful (especially if you're drawing other people at a social table), "things" seem to happen on occasion.

I very much get the Karma-thing, as I'm one of those who doesn't want to profit from a dealer mistake and will correct a hand or overpay as long as it doesn't punish the other people at the table. Once in a while, though, you're making more trouble for them if you do call attention to something. Besides, don't some BS's say hit 11v10 rather than double? :)
If the House lost every hand, they wouldn't deal the game.

Does dealer actually see the card (lift it up, old school style)? Or did dealer put it into the mirror/prism?

Was supposed to hook up with the brother in law at Borgata to see Russell Peters. My 2 friends and I met up at Golden Nug in AC and had some super good food at Grotto. Mix up 3 things off their family menu and pigged out. Afterwards we were about to head over to the Borgata when my friend wants to bang out a little BJ real quick. I throw $500 up on the table and put it all on one hand. I got a pair of face cards and the dealer had a face showing. She flips it and there is a 6 and pulls a 2. I press my $500. I got a pair of 9's with the dealer showing a 7. So I split them, put up a grand more, let's do this. Both my other friends sitting to my right, bust their hands. I get a face on the first and another 9 on the second. I stay and the dealer flips a face over. I play two spots, a grand on each. 2 face cards on the first and a face and a 7 on the second. Dealer showing a 3. Flips a face card over. Pulls a 2 and a 9. One spot $1,500.00. I get a pair of 5's. Dealer showing an 8. I double and pull a face. Dealer has a face underneath. I'm done. Time to go back to Manhattan. Just got in a little bit ago. Both my friends are pissed, they each lost about a grand. Stopped in to visit with one of out buddies that is a host there, didn't even see him. Food was good, cash was even better.

Very nice and very lucky. What was the count that caused you to split 9,9 vs 7?

Just playing off the cuff. Shoe just started, it was the first three hands. Absolute luck. The other two played a few shoes until they lost their money. They both got up to even or just a bit ahead 2-X's if not 3-X's.

I almost forgot. Welcome to the forum! Great win and great story!

Speaking of Manhattan, a friend called me during the week to say he was going to Atlantic City for the weekend and was leaving Friday traveling from Connecticut. I asked what time he was leaving and he said around noon. I told him it was a bad time to leave, especially with the upcoming holiday. Did he heed my advice? He did not. In the time it takes me to drive from Connecticut to AC he had only made it to the GW bridge. The trip took over eight hours and it was dark when he got there. Yikes!

Got a big one that I witnessed tonight. Double deck lucky ladies side bet. I had been playing the table for a good long time. Things were going well. I was on the cut card with a max bet out on two hands +14 ten count. I hit a suited and regular for 350. Guy watching table deciding whether to play or not sees this and gets all excited. Dealer shuffles. Guy sits with a handful of green and does 25 main and 25 side right away. BAM hits the 2 queen of hearts for 5000. Tells me it's his first time ever playing the side bet. I personally have never hit it on double deck. Once on 6 deck. He saw me win and claimed he just wanted to try it. Took 1/2 an hour for him to get paid. I got stuck waiting to double 64 against dealer 5. Guy gets paid and despite getting a W2G tosses the dealer 500 and me 500. He rolls off the table and hits roulette first spin out the chute BAM hits his number with 4 green spread on numbers. I look at the wheel recorder and see no zero has hit. I notice he has 6 green spread on numbers and holler zero to him. BAM effing zero hits and there's several people going crazy. Dude had 100 on it. He literally brings me another 500 and tosses it at me. I try to refuse but he insists I deserve it. I play a few more hands and thanked him very much and hightailed it out of there. UNBELIEVABLE

Been a while, and still just my little practice game, but 6 deck H-17..table max 1K bet out
7, 7 vs Dealer 3, split
Results below.
7, 7, split, Q for 17
7, 7, split, 7 for 14
7, A, double, 2 for 20
7, J for 17

Dealer, 3, 2, Q, 9 - BUST!
10K swing, took a pic, just play money but still fun!

It does require some self discipline and a great deal of accuracy, so you can be excused ;-)

Actually you could practice cheating I guess, it just never occurred to me...

Monster count, spread to 2 hands with max bet, got 19 and 11 vs 10, doubled the 11 and got a 3... Dealer had 20 so I lost 3 max bets.

Not a fun story, but a true one from last weekend. If it needs to be more exciting just know I lost the 2 hands max bets both before and after that hand too, lol.
Playing it correctly means you've already won.

That jhit happens, sad but true.
Just think, you could have won all 3 scenarios, and you were at a real table w/real money! I'm an addict, so far so good...

My attitude is that betting systems don't help, but they don't hurt me either. The house edge is what it is, and I'm willing to bet up to the table max anyway. When I play blackjack, I decide when I sit down what I'm going to do, be it flat betting, martingale, 3-5-8, or what have you.

One day, I won 12 hands in a row, and luckily for me, I had chosen to play 3-5-8 with levels (3-5-8, 6-10-16, 9-15-24, etc). I had winning double-downs on the 9th and 12th hands (the big bets of the 3rd and 4th levels), and lost on the 13th hand (the small bet of the 5th level). Starting with a $15 bet, I racked up about $1100, $100 of which went to the dealer.

That's a big dealer tip, at least for BJ, IMO. Salutations.

It's the 7's strategy again.
7,7 vs dealer 4, just $450 out this time, (four fiddy).
Split 3 ways with 1 dbl.
Won the dbl, lost both of the singles with 7,5.
Whole thing was a push, a total waste of time ;-)
Still a lot of 7's chasing me round.....

I have only had one hand of blackjack turn into 8 bets twice.

One was on a CSM and I ended up winning all hands.

One was on a shoe and the dealer drew some kind of a hand and I broke about even.

I don't remember the bet sizes or starting cards.

Welcome to the Forums here, LJ, can I call you LJ? I don't think I've ever had a hand go to 8X the initial bet, but I know if I play long enuf I will. I have posted some interesting hands that went to 5X with big bets out ( big bets at least for me ). And those were all on practice games. I've had a bunch of 2X max bets in real situations, and I lost too many of them. I think if I'd had a 3X on a big bet, I think I'd remember, but I don't, so prolly never happened. Memory a bit fuzzy here ;-)
So you play BJ? Cool. You've had a couple of hands go to 'split to four, and double on each' ? I think that is very rare, not in the 18 Yo in a row category rare, but still very rare. I look forward to reading all of your experiences, I already assume it's gonna be fun reading. Cheers - 2F

Going off of the odds of free bet blackjack which pays 1000-1 on having seven of those id say it's above 30k to 1 but I am just guessing

I'm guessing. You could force that hand to 8 bets though if you had 2s and got two more 2s and where up against a 6 and started double even hands that you only had a total of 6-7-8

Oooh, oooh, I just remembered. I had a $125 bet out on a red chip table, don't remember the cards and will not 'make it up'. Cocky effing dealer, said something 'bout reeling me in like a fish', as he made a motion of working a fishing reel, as I split and doubled to 7X and he pulled a 4 or 5 card 21 out of his butt. I lost all of them, that time. I will bet it the same next time, it's my turn ;-)
