Interesting and informative read on the Wizard of Odds website about their recent trip to Star City Casino in Sydney, Australia. Please note the blackjack rules may not be accurate and I suggest the following changes:
Min bet is AUS30.00(US25.00)
Double 9-11 only, not DOA... soft totals of 9-11 may be doubled but the ace counts as one
BB+1 rule, not OBBO
House edge is approx. 0.56 using 6 decks and a CSM

G'day Dave
Are you sure about the BB+1? The key question is what happens when you re-split 2-K (RSA not allowed) and don't bust. I can't remember to be honest but I'm pretty sure they only take the original bet.

G'day,
In this casino you can't resplit anything, only one split allowed on any pair which can then be doubled if new hand totals 9-11.
When a player splits or doubles and the dealer gets a blackjack then the BB+1 rule is used. This means that once all original and busted bets have been cleared from the table the dealer takes one more bet per box. If the OBBO rule is used then the dealer takes one more bet per hand.
The rules vary between casinos so what you are referring to may apply elsewhere. Hope this helps.

Hey Dave,
I've just had 18 wonderful nights at Jupiter's on the Gold Coast. It's part of the same group as the Star and has basically the same rules. One exception is that Jupiter's will allow players to stand on any score, even less than 12 (the Star in Sydney does not allow this).
As for OBO/OBBO/BB+1 rule, Jupiter's is definitely using OBO. I confirmed it in general play over the course of my stay, but during some quiet moments, I also asked several dealers to go over it in detail with me: if the player splits and the dealer gets blackjack, they just take your original bet (doesn't matter whether you stand on both hands, bust either hand, or bust both hands). I usually play at the Star and had thought they followed this rule too, so perhaps they have changed since your last post? (Neither casino does an adequate of publicising their detailed rules for these situations.) I'll be back there this weekend, if not before, and will check with one of the staff. Cheers!

No worries BeerKeg.
The Star Entertainment Group now owns Sydney, Brisbane Treasury Casino and Jupiter's on the Gold Coast. The rules, players cards, comps, etc are all in the process of being consolidated so we may have to wait until the transition is complete before we have a final answer.
