$25 game
6 deck
1 1/2 deck cut
Able to play head to head in mornings and sometimes afternoons and night
hand shuffle
some heat but similar to other casinos
The Borgata has six deck. Place always packed. However, they use a shuffle machine. I prefer to watch the cards shuffled by hand.
Everywhere else had table minimum of $50 or more. Played the $50 game in high limit area at one of the total rewards casinos and was surprised they used an auto shuffler. Played a short while and broke even. I will avoid these auto shufflers if possible after bad experience with much play at Caesars a couple months ago. Maybe I'm superstitious our paranoid about computers in the shuffle machines, but feel safer playing a hand shuffled game -- at least then if I'm losing its because of normal conditions and not a rigged machine.
Golden Nugget high limit room offered $50 game. If tired of playing at Trop and want a new environment this is the place to go if you don't mind pitboss leaning on your table and eyeballing your action entire time. I don't think the man blinked the hour and a half I played. The cut card was placed a little better here then at the Trop too. But then again it's a $50 game and not $25.
Lost all my winnings from Nugget and Trop at The Taj Mahal. Thought Id play there before they too closed their doors. Played typical 8 deck game. Drank some. Chatted with a couple dealers who I knew from years of playing. Walked away feeling stupid and pathetic.
Quote:After playing every casino in Atlantic City this past weekend, I found the Tropicana had the best blackjack game.

There's nowhere in AC that offers a Blackjack game with less than a $25 minimum and most are $50? Damn. I would expect that for DD games, but I figured there would be a 10-15 dollar 6-8 deck game somewhere up there. I know the one time I went to AC (and this was before I learned much of anything about counting and didn't pay as close attention to rules and conditions) I played a $15 6 deck game at the Taj Mahal. But things change, I guess.
House edge 8 decks: 0.66083%
House edge 6 decks: 0.63873%
Both are terrible. Is that really going to make a difference on your overnight or weekend trip? Put another way, is the potential to lose an extra 30 cents an hour going to deter anyone?
Enjoy Atlantic City's blackjack everyone. When and if the time comes to just make money, you know where to go.

30 cents to the basic strategy player. Much more than that to a counter (far fewer really good positive true counts and many more negative/neutral true counts), as I am sure you well know. Of course the OP made no mention of counting.

Right. My post was geared more to the non counter hence my references differentiating serious players who just want to make money from casual weekend players who want the whole AC experience.
I don't want to give the impression that these games cannot be beaten. As bad as they are, they most certainly can be and are every day. I'll leave it to our good forum members to apply their definition of the word beaten.
i dont believe any casino in nj has surrender option. i usually make a joke when playing to surrender and am always told its not available.
perhaps the short time i played at the golden nugget i failed to ask.

You absolutely may request surrender at the Golden Nugget in high limit only. That doesn't mean you'll always get it because of how it's done. Play heads up and you could be okay. If there are other players at the table the surrender option is put to a vote and it must be unanimous. Sadly, many times someone will be against it.
Quote: BrewfangrbWhy in the world would anyone vote against it? It's not like it hurts those who simply choose not to surrender. Of course, I don't understand people playing 6:5 or people who don't double 11 vs 6 or a 1000 other head-scratching things people do.
Some people (wrongly) think that surrendering is a sucker's move, and doing so will mess up the flow of the cards, just like an improper hit or stay.
