Basic Strategy says hit all of these combinations. But what (if any) index plays do you folks use on 15-16 vs. 7-10 and 2 vs. 2-3? The Illustrious 18 says:

1. Stand on 16 vs. 10 if the TC is even. (What about 7-9?)

2. Stand on 15 vs. 10 if the TC is +4. (What about 7-9?)

3. Stand on 12 vs. 2 if the TC is +3.

4. Stand on 12 vs. 3 if the TC is +2.

Is this how you folks like to play these infamous scenarios?

Yes, those are the proper plays (for H17 games)....although, I'm not entirely sure what you're asking.

16v7 : 9
16v8 : 7
16v9 : 5
15v7 : 10
15v8 : 10
15v9 : 8

The only one there that is illustrious 18 is 16v9. The rest of them are non-Ill18 indices that I got from Norm's CVCX.

Surrender not available correct?

Stand on 16 vs 7 at +9 Stand on 15 vs 7 at +10

Stand on 16 vs 8 at +7 Stand on 15 vs 8 at +10

Stand on 16 vs 9 at+5 Stand on 15 vs 9at +8

Is that where you thought they would be, Wanderer? Great song by the way. Notice that you'll be hitting more against the 7.

Thanks. How would it differ in S17 games?

S17 and H17 indexes for plays against dealer's 7, 8, 9, and 10 would be the same because a dealer's hand containing any of these cards could not be soft 17.

Indices are different in H17 vs S17 when dealer is showing A,2,3,4,5, or 6. I don't know what the S17 indices are (I seldom play S17, if ever). But I believe* 12v6 in an S17 game is -1, not -3, for example.

One thing to remember is that as the count increases, the .22% advantage that the house enjoys by hitting soft 17 begins to shrink. In high counts it can be almost negligible and that's when the big money is on the table.

I always play 2D and the majority of tables around here are S17.
