My wonderful daughter brought me to Mohegan Sun for father's day.

The casino itself is round, surrounded by shops and restaurants. Not real large but it certainly seems big enough to handle the crowd. I arrived early enough to find the tables in the non-smoking section still closed so headed to the smoking side of things. They advertise 5 BJ 24 hours a day and they live up to that with a full table of CSM with regular PA rules. I've tried that on a previous visit but the level of play is awful! (more later) I was hoping for a $10 table, but all I could find was a $15 hand shuffled. $25 was also available.
Regular PA rules played with 6 decks, 3/2 BJ, DAS, no RSA, LS, penetration was about 70%.

I fought through many ugly shoes trying to just manage to stay even, with lots of other folks coming and going (without there money). Many were playing solid BJ, others not, but I felt a bit like AoS with all the dealer 20 and 21s that were happening! At one point I had to buy in again, but then got to play heads up for a bit and got back to even and then a couple of shoes later hit another good one to end my session up $250.

Mohegan Sun is running a promotion that if you play $10 BJ for 1 hour you get into the buffet for free. Cool! I certainly qualified for that, so I headed to the kiosk and sure enough the comp was there and I was soon eating a nice buffet. Food was good, not great, but it sure hit the spot. I still had time so headed back to the tables...

Now the non-smoking section was open and also a few $10 tables. I sat down with a very nice and fast dealer and had some some very flat shoes. At one point an older gentleman sat down and on his second hand had T 3 vs 6 and he wanted to hit. The dealer politely explained you never hit a 13 vs 6. The gentleman finally agreed, but it did the table no good in the end. Another interesting dealer discussion during a shuffle was about the $5 table where people go with stacks of greens! Then complain because other people at the table aren't playing their hands right. Their claim is they want the freedom to just be $5 sometime (though they never do). Remember these are CSMs at the $5 tables, so why do you need the huge spread?

Anyway, I hit a bad shoe just as my daughter was ready to leave, so ended down almost $200. So a small profit for the day.

In general all the dealers and pit folks were very friendly and well trained. And having S17 and LS is certainly a plus over my more normal AC trips.

Ahhhh indeed- I know the 20s and 21s all too well.
Glad that you and a good trip up there for Father's Day.
I love when people equate the table minimum with skill level.
There are plenty of plop pies at $100minimum tables as well.

Speaking of ploppies, I now believe that ALL casinos should allow LS, as almost no one applies it properly. The dealers almost seemed surprised I was surrendering. All day long, only one other players surrendered regularly (and correctly). One other player surrendered 14 vs 8.

One other thing I forgot to mention, many of the tables have the house money side bet. It was getting VERY little action. One guy was playing it regularly, one a few times, but lost a lot. Not sure this one will last at the level of play I saw.
