What kind of charities does the money go to?

I am not at liberty to disclose where the money goes to other than to say we are a 125 year-old institution with an IMPECCABLE record of charity and doing good works for others. The money does not go to purchasing new uniforms for sports teams etc. In short, the money passes through to families who could not otherwise afford to have their child attend this outstanding school. there
are you not willing to say to keep it private or is it not published during the event?

Then people in this thread arguing with you should just drive to Detroit and leave your gaming nights alone, imo. Are we really that worried that people do not know that dealer wins ties is not casino blackjack? I would assume most of them know. I'd hope at least.

The only $2 blackjack in Detroit is at MGM's party pit, and in order to bet that, you must first pay a 25 cent ante. Oh, and blackjack pays even money.

And $5?
I'm not going to defend Detroit's apparent right to have a decent sub $10 game.

No $5 bj downtown. Need to go to Soaring Eagle for that.
As for the party pit at MGM. You can bet any amount under the minimum down to $1. But as I said, you have to pay that quarter ante and bj only pays even money.

Right so the $2 charity game may be better for those who flat bet $2. But asking a charity game to run just like a casino seems just harsh to me, and I feel most of the posters in this thread think they should be just like a casino.

Is that quarter ante and even money BJ at all values at this table, or just for under the minimum? (Which was... 2$?)

Isn't that suspension worthy?
I think there is a rule against thst.

I agree. If going to one of these Vegas nights for the lousy payoffs, look at it as a donation your willing to make. Still not nearly as bad as the lottery here.

When you add all of the bad parts together I think they should be outlawed.
1. Cover charge to get in
2. Really bad rules on all games
3. Limit of $500 cash out
4. They sell out of chips so if you are playing and go bust you have to quit playing.
Quote: rudeboyoiThey should spread good games with good rules. Create ~270 organizations and find three different venues near each other and have gambling available 24/7.
One popular poker room is open 15 hours a day.

My figures were based on the room could only be open 8hrs a day. Idk what the actual laws are. Either way laws are dumb and can be worked around. Ethics are not.

Convince those morally opposed to gambling of that. Considering MI legalized casino gaming, I'm surprised the state still allows a significant amount of charity gaming.
The thing that disturbed me the most about Riva's "charity" setup was the ATM (with no fees, no less!) than the "ties lose blackjack".
Quote: tringlomaneConsidering MI legalized casino gaming, I'm surprised the state still allows a significant amount of charity gaming.
Vegas nights like Riva volunteers for are rare these days. Ten to fifteen plus years ago you could find one somewhere every weekend, usually at a church. Most of the organizations now go the poker room route.
I normally don't want to see suspensions but this is one case I feel the mods should think about this.
Quote: djatcDid Riva get hacked? Or did another charity organization donate their time to edit his posts? What happened?
maybe? Normally Riva asks these questions and as soon as he doesn't get the answer he was looking for he asks a mod to lock it up.
