first trip under the new rewards program. should be...disappointing? they never really did right by me under the old program (they seem to underreport my buy-ins @ blackjack tables)...can't see how it'll be better this time around. any of you pros got any cool tricks or notes? i saw someone mentioned double points days being a good time to lose on the machines...any other good ideas?

I've never had a problem with my initial buy-in being correctly recorded at Mohegan Sun. I will not play unless the floor manager has taken my card and noted my cash buy-in. I have seen additional chip purchases missed for other players during play, especially at lower-limit tables. I suggest putting down all the cash you expect to use for the initial buy-in if getting that correct is important to you. Just because you put the money on the table doesn't mean you have to bet it. The floor manager isn't going to note every $20 pulled out of someone's pocket to cover a split or double down.

The Mohegan Sun web site has the 411 on the Momentum program put in place October 1st. Credits from the old program will still be on your account. If you visit occasionally I think you will benefit from the new program if you play to their level of expectation. If you sit at the bar and drink for free while playing 25-cent JoB then that's about all you will get from the place. If you play at the high-limit tables or mid-level slots for four hours you might get lounge access. Double-points comes in two flavors: "Double status points" or "Double Momentum dollars," and they apply to only slot play. You can see the days these promotions are offered under "My Calendar" when you log in to the web site.

Good luck!

thanks for the input. i had one experience where i bought in for $500 @ a $50 table & for whatever reason they credited me $4+change...sounds petty, but it's mildly irritating. otherwise i find my inital buy-ins are usually recorded OK, but even on pricey tables, they simply do not keep track if i thrown down money afterwards. they especially don't credit me if/when i cash out.

i am, however, looking forward to trying this free bet blackjack...assuming it's still offered...

Free Bet Blackjack is scheduled to be introduced this month, so it's more of a question of whether it has been offered yet instead of if it is still offered.

left the place +$760. surprisingly, played with primarily good & pleasant players/dealers. my girlfriend did well too. oddly enough, they also got my win/loss numbers pretty much spot on this time around. qualifying period for status points, however, expires at the end of the month :-(

free bet blackjack will get there eventually. the pit dude i spoke to said there was an error in printing the felt, & when it's eventually corrected & introduced it will allegedly be S17. would be nice, but i'm not gonna get my hopes up just yet.

I was also at MS for the weekend, glad to hear your buy-in and color-out numbers were correct. My play at the table wasn't as fortunate as yours. My winnings were donated to the dealers' tip pool each time I played: I walked away even. Thanks for the intel about Free Bet Blackjack. I inquired too, but the floor manager I talked to was clueless. Only when I described the game as "22 push" did I get a vague reply of "soon" as to when the game would be up and running. Hope you caught Los Lonely Boys in the Wolf Den Saturday night. They had the place rocking!

If you are close on qualifying status points there is one more good opportunity this month. On March 31st both Double Momentum Dollars and Double Status Points are offered, but as you probably know those promotions don't apply to table games. Furthermore, play on the best VP games (e.g., 9/6 JoB in Casino of the Wind) isn't awarded Momentum Dollars. [Check for a small plaque on the machine that states this limitation.] I did verify with the Players' Club that those VP games will award status points, but I think what is awarded is based on the machine hold. That is, not very much. But double is good, no?

I will wait with baited breath to hear what rules apply to Free Bet Blackjack. S17 would be great, provided they don't limit free doubles to the first two cards. If the house edge is kept below 1% I'm in! Perhaps I expect too much.

I'm told there was a problem with the Free Bet felts that had to be reordered. Felts for the new three card poker game were installed early yesterday morning on six tables. Training has been completed for both games.

Thanks, 1BB! Since the felts are now in view I can't imagine a reason why MS wouldn't share what the the rules are for the new game. Do you happen to know what's different about the new game? Does the Wizard of Odds Three Card Poker write up have information about the variant? Possibly ShuffleMaster's Bally's Face Up Ultimate Three Card Poker? I can see why MS might want to spice up the game. Playing best strategy is not exiting, but it is among the best of the carnival games. I only play it when "green" friends want some company at the table and they don't have the patience to learn about better games.

Sorry, I didn't linger. I'll check later this week. We may be in for some bad weather tomorrow so Thursday or Friday.

The new game is regular Three Card Poker with a side bet that uses the dealer's three cards and the player's three cards. The max bet is $25. The game also has a progressive jackpot that can be played for a dollar. I'm not a poker player so I hope I'm not confusing things. I have all the payouts if anyone is interested. The progressive was $4200 a couple of hours ago.

Free Bet Blackjack was installed this morning and is up and running. I should probably post that information in one of the Free Bet threads. I'll do that later this afternoon if no one beats me to it.

Thanks again, 1BB! Yes I, too, was wondering about breaking off the MS Free Bet Blackjack to a separate thread. I look forward to your post.
