Such as bovada. I don't seem to see any repeating cards so I assume it's 1 deck.
Although I'm asking the community about such assumption. The basic strategy varies quite a lot from 1 deck to 6-8 decks.

Never play online blackjack. EVER.

The different Bovada games say how many decks they have in the shoe in their titles. IIRC they have "single," "double," and "unspecified" games. Further, IIRC the unspecified is 6 deck.

You can count. Some tables you don't have to play every hand. Comps.

Also, almost all online BJ shuffles after each hand which renders counting moot. And there's less oversight with online gambling.

It also doesn't feel like a fair game. So many stories of win a little, lost it all.

If you're a bad counter, absolutely. But at least you have the ability to count there.

Brick and Mortar casinos have an incentive to be honest.
Far too many online gambling operations appear to be of questionable integrity.

Use the appropriate strategy for the number of decks and the rules. Here's the Wizard's calculator.
If the casino doesn't tell you the number of decks and the rules in play, don't play at that casino. That's a piss-poor customer experience and indicative of other potential issues.
