Get in and bet when you have the advantage, get out and don't bet when you don't. That's what wonging means to me.

Here is my issue.

The trips that I have made to Vegas I've always stood behind a table and back-counted. If there's less than four people at the table, the game is always paused within minutes by the dealer who then asks me for my ID and tells me I "look young". I then either sit or bail, depending on the count.

Is this drawing negative attention to me as a back-counter if it happens frequently? How can I best use this to my advantage? Ham it up? Fake 'stache?

If you look young then make sure you've always got a brew in yer mitts, and act mildly buzzed. And be sure to whine alot and they'll figure yer just a typical frat-boy type lookin to drop his cake at the bj table, as there are always plenty of them in Vegas, hey hey.

Yeah sox fan that's pretty much how i handled it, take a few light sips off the coors light and trash it on the way to the next table, staggering slightly the whole way. I don't know if that act will work for long though LOL

It's quite possible that you just happen to fit the profile of a card counter.

If they ask for id and you don't give it, security is going to be watching you the whole time, and you won't be able to make any bets anyway. I'd give them the id, whether you plan on playing or not.

There are different forms of wonging. What you describe is the 'classic' form but for me doing this 100% at a casino is way too much work, I enjoy sitting down and relaxing a bit as well.
Other forms to use for wonging out without leaving the table are toilet breaks and telephone breaks.
Also running out of money and hesitating changing more money.
And the classic when the table is hammered is to stop playing in order to change the 'flow'.

When you first walk into the casino, stop at Security and ask for a wristband. They'll look at your ID for age verification, but won't care about your name. When the dealers see the wristband, they won't bother you.
