Today I qualified for the third-level status card (Ascend) at Mohegan Sun. I'm $5k ahead of when I started gambling in September. I wonder how many other Ascend-holders are net positive. Thank you WoV for the debates, motivational speeches, and stories that helped get to this point.

Go for the SOAR card. You'll get 30 cents a gallon off the $4 plus gas instead of 20 cents.

You are a rarity. Out of the dozen people I know with and Ascend card, only one is above water. It was a first-time achievement that was due to incredible luck. Under the previous rewards plan I calculated the average cost for maintaining a Sagamore card as $16K per six-month evaluation period. [Calculated for non-AP. Actually, you could "buy" a Sagamore card for $8K/period by running money through the virtual roulette machine for a defined loss during double-points days.]
Edit: Clarified the calculated cost for Sagamore qualification.

I think you forgot the /sarcasm tag, 1BB. No one I know with a Soar card thinks the rewards are worth the incremental cost. Yeah, you can get up on 33 - if your host approves. During the limited time it's now open. The Momentum program has definitely trimmed some fat at Mohegan Sun. Most of the "social club" we knew is gone. They were there to socialize and have fun. Shame on them, that's not in the casino's business plan. The screws continue to tighten. They are informing players that even though they have an Ascend or Soar card, they can't coast along as they did under the previous rewards plan. If you don't continue to play to their level of expectation your privileges will start to dry up immediately. The threat of revoking membership due to "abuse of privileges" was also mentioned. Watch your back. Obviously Mohegan Sun thinks their financial future will depend on courting the 20- and 30-year-old customers.Quote: 1BBGo for the SOAR card. Yes, I was being sarcastic. I just don't like their carrot on a stick approach and I don't play their game. I doubt that our friend arcticfun would ever fall for it but many have and many more will.
Did you guys hear that the dealers are being trained on a new game soon to be installed in the Casino Of The Earth? No one knew, or remembered, the name but it sure sounds like Free Bet Blackjack.

We did not! Thanks for the intel. The last wrinkle I saw there was the House Money 21 BJ side bet offered for only a month or so this past summer, and only on 4 of the $5 felts. I never saw any promotional material for the offering. One day it was gone. I guess the 2.8% HE (with proper strategy) was too much for MS to "give away" compared to the 4% HE for Match the Dealer. Maybe the fact that players had to make a parley/no-parley decision was too much for the folks frequenting the $5 pit. What am I saying... they don't even know BS.Quote: 1BBDid you guys hear that the dealers are being trained on a new game soon to be installed in the Casino Of The Earth? Oh man and I thought I was getting a good deal on the gas with the *yellow* card!! //sarcasm
I wasn't around during the old system. Did status points expire? Because currently, any and all status points get stripped down to zero on April 1. :( that means no more yellow card... Regardless, though, I can't really complain all too much about the momentum dollar thing - I've been able to buy pretty nice things.
I was talking to one of the dealers - I mentioned that some places would push a dealer 22 vs player 17-21 and he said that they were being trained on a game that did that but didn't know more details. There'd better be a nice bonus for that push-22 thing... what a catch 22.

Yes, status points get reset at the beginning of each six-month evaluation period, and then you have to get back on the hamster wheel. Choice credits get reset to your allocation the first of each month. Unused choice credits from the previous month are lost. The best deal for unused choice credits, if you have 100, is to exchange them for 50 momentum dollars. Momentum dollars don't expire that I know of. They were carried over from the previous program.Quote: arcticfunDid status points expire?

Thanks again, 1BB! With a .79% HE using Wizard's strategy it will be a better gamble than a lot of other table games. There are enough idle pits, but I guess they will convert some regular BJ tables for this.Quote: 1BBI have confirmed that the new game is indeed Free Bet Blackjack.

Just achieved SOAR status @Mohegan. Anyone familiar with this status level and the current published and unpublished perks?

I got it not too long ago! It's the best! you get champagne offered to you when you use the aquai VIP checkin thing. Free rooms and suites any day, free tix to any concert!
Most importantly, you can get a main floor table upped to $50 min or a table in the $50 pit turned into a $100 min, which basically guarantees you play alone (or close to alone).
Try to get to 5000 status points -- worth 1000 momentum dollars! It's a twisted way to look at things but hey - it's a goal!
Um -- in the words of 1BB, you get 30c off their ridiculous gas. I used that a bunch of times, so I won't complain.

Not quite as exciting, but I should hit Leap this week. 1st time ever reaching a 2nd level tier card. Anything worthwhile come with Leap? Saw the 10% Momentum Dollar Accelerator and seemingly useless 200 monthly choice credits.

Fast line at hotel check in, VIP line at the buffet, and other than for the buffet, the 200 CCs can be used towards sold-out concert tickets! I got two tickets to Queen for 95 CCs each!! I didn't know that was possible until the host told me ... all the while, I was desperately trying to buy tix for momentum dollars... lol what a noob.

Opened fine for me, using IE. You might try "quote" and then copy and paste the link (without the formatting) into your browser, WB. Not sure why you would have a problem as posted, sorry.
If the House lost every hand, they wouldn't deal the game.
