Yes something along those lines but not strictly for the Vegas area

I thought you were fundamentally lazy...at least that is what I just read. Thank you for the offer, I can do that myself I am not that lazy. I just figured I would save myself some trouble if someone had already done the legwork like vpfree. I am trying to compile a list of the casinos I am willing to travel to near me, their VP payouts, blackjack rules, and try to find any ap opportunities that I can at them.
Quote: Mission146Good enough, I call casinos to answer questions people have on here all the time. I'm not really lazy when it comes to putting in hours at my job or this site. Perhaps, "Unambitious," would be a more appropriate word than lazy, I guess I've really never been lazy at all.
Any tips when dealing with casino employees on the phone? Also do you ever deal with hosts? I have the highest tier card at the casino I frequent the most, but yet have to talk to my host, except when they offered me a hotel room while I was the lowest tier.
Quote: TranscendIs there any sites like VPfree for blackjack rules of casinos, or is it all found out by frequenting the casino?
CBJN. It's as accurate as you're going to get but it's a pay site, worth it to many players.

Asking for the specific department you want is pretty important, believe it or not, I've talked to people via PM who don't always do that. The first person who answers the phone probably doesn't actually know the answer to a Slots/Tables question, but will occasionally try to answer anyway. Secondly, if you're calling anyone except your host, don't bother leaving a message as you probably won't get a call back, just keep calling periodically until the person you want answers the phone.
If you're calling about some kind of promotion you intend to AP, obviously, don't use your name. Just give a first name and make it something generic.
I've only dealt with hosts a handful of times, and most have pursued me for one reason or another. I don't really have any tips for that, except just to not waste time beating around the bush and be direct. Just ask for what you want and they can either comp it or they cannot.

All sounds pretty logical thanks for the input mission.

Are you qualified and/or willing to answer card counting questions?

No problem, there are plenty of people on here with more experience dealing with hosts than I have, so hopefully we will hear from some of them. If not, "Getting the Most out of Your Host," might be a good thread topic if you care to start it, it rhymes, too.

CBJN is the best source of info out there, but I've found it to be inconsistent and really really out of date in certain areas. So really it's a pretty good guide, but you shouldn't take anything in there as gospel. Go and check it out yourself, that's the only 100% method. Or have a confederate do the same and set up an information sharing agreement.
If you play for serious money the cost of CBJN isn't consequential, and it's a decent resource.

I always try to talk to my host as I'm checking out. She can often comp a bit more than the "standard" amount, which is what you'll get if you go to the players club desk and they call the "on-call" host.
Remember that your host's job is to keep you happy so you keep coming back; there is often some "wiggle room" in what you can be given. In particular, if you had a very bad trip (way under expectation) then they will really take care of you. You know that you will have above-expectation trips to make up for it, and they know this too, but they don't really want to have a math discussion with you.
