Hey guys, it's my second post here. I was just curious as to how many members of this forum are living in the UK? See most casinos here use CSM's. To be honest most are under a chain, either 'Genting' or 'Grovesnor'. I have found one local casino using a shoe and I have had pretty good results with a minimal bankroll. However I would like to space my playing out to numerous locations. If anyone has any advice or knows of any located in the north of England feel free to leave a reply!

With regard to shoe dealt blackjack opportunities, I would say they've gone South big time since the Gala chain was taken over by the Rank Group and the outlets are to be (or have been) rebranded as Grosvenor. When I visited a Gala last October, the six deckers had already been swapped out for those nasty one-to-six vacuum cleaners, and I'm told this has happened across the former Gala estate.
If you fancy travelling, the you might wish to consider paying a visit to Napoleon's in Sheffield, Hull or Leicester Square in London (they pride themselves on offering the best game in Town), or the Palace in Great Yarmouth where you can play your heart away from a quid a hand. I'm told that the LCI outlets in Town now offer only 8 deckers, and the other that springs to mind is the Palm Beach just off Piccadilly, near Green Park tube station - although I'm told it's a tad sweaty; I've never played there myself.
I'm afraid you've picked the wrong time to take up counting the cards in Blackjack.
Good cards.

I think most people now use CSMs, but some casinos use shoes for higher stakes or when the CSM has broken down (they don't keep spares).Quote: Skellyolocated in the north of England feel free to leave a reply!
I'm not sure how far North you mean, but there's quite a few along the M62 corridor, especially in Manchester. North of there they get sparser. I cannot grade them based on Blackjack HE, as nearly everyone plays by the same rules.
Attached below is a copy of my spreadsheet, but it's difficult to keep track of all the new and recently closed casinos. I haven't yet updated it for those that used to be Gala (ex Ladbrokes etc.). Some were sold to Grosvenor and others went to Rainbow (their base is in Birmingham). Several websites try to list them and I find their lists can be out of date. Mine might be - the most recent one I found out about was the closure in Aberdeen.
Here's my recommendations based on difference from the norm, working south. Several Grosvenors and Stanley/Genting are good - but you've probably seen them - for instance the one in Newcastle is similar design to the one in Walsall.
Scotland
Glasgow - Riverboat is nice to eat at, restaurant overlooks river.
Scotland - M62
Newcastle - Aspers (or try the one in Stratford London)
Stockton - G (I only like this because it has XX Poker (ask Geoff!) - only call in if going down A19 from Newcastle).
Blackpool - Paris (pleasant, but probably not worth diverting from M6 to get to - if you're in Blackpool the G is also nearby).
M62
Manchester - G (Bury Road) (has craps) - free parking
Manchester - Circus (Genting) - in city centre (first "Circus", similar to one in Liverpool - if in area try Manchester235).
Manchester - Soames (Grosvenor) - this is small and in China Town, short walk away from Circus.
Manchester - Ensure you pay for any parking before 8pm in the city centre, they're quite keen to give out tickets.
Leeds - Alea (the chain has a few nice casinos).
Sheffield - Napoleons [Owlerton] (only worth going to if you're visiting and want to see one of our smaller dog tracks as their small casino is by the track). On road North out of town.
Birmingham - Rainbow (also try Broadway [and G] near Five Ways at bottom of Hagley Road)
PS If anyone spots any errors in the list below, please PM me. I've been to nearly every provincial casino (missed one in Edinburgh, one in Derby and the "electric" ones), so hoping to finish them off sometime.

I admire your list of UK casinos with some notation if they are closed or still open. But I am a little bit having a hard time reading the "dates" some dates you have specifically indicated as "closed" but some dates you left simply 30Jan'12 which to my knowledge of UK casinos "Y Torquay (formerly independent) (Genting formerly Stanleys) [30Jan'12]"
It is now Genting Casino Torquay located 5 Abbey Road, Torquay TQ2 5NR, was formerly Stanley Casino Torquay which was originally Torquay Casino.
It was rebraned to Mint Casino when Stanely Leisure plc was acquired by Genting International in May 2001 with 32 other casinos of the Stanley group which Genting UK rebranded some to Mint (20 casinos), Maxims (8 casinos) and (Circus 11), if they don't add up to 32 its because Genting bought also the non trading (not operating casinos yet). This is more or less what really was and is the part of the big history of Genting UK now - either they are in the Genting Club or Genting Casino format. The Genting Club format has sometimes two operating licenses in one venue.
Is Torquay a casino that existed as an independent operator. Formerly Stanley Casino Torquay or Stanley Casino, Torguay. I want to know exactly for instance what was the casino name original, who took over and in what name and so on to the present day - of course if would be ideal for some serious collector to have the date it opened (the month, day and the year) of the change in name and change in operator.
RIGHT NOW I AM IN HOT PURSUIT OF THE STAKIS CASINOS BEFORE THEY WERE ACQUIRED BY LADBROKE AND BEFORE THEY GET LOST IN THE ARCHIVES.
Anybody who has photos and images with locations and possible address and or dates of GO grand opening dates and closing dates individually because as a group they all closed they the Ladbroke acquisition was consummated and before Cyril Stein in 1956s took over the Ladbroke.
I will appreciate it if you can post or help.
Thank you for your post - it is very informative though.

Firstly my spreadsheet was originally only meant for me, so the [30Jan'12] represents the date I checked the info. The "Y" confirms that I've been to it.
In the UK there isn't as easy way to find out casino news (as I'm not in the business) so only hear about things through word of mouth. Historically the Gaming Board used to include news in their annual report but weren't allowed to list any casinos. There was a list of towns or areas where casinos are allowed, so they DID list the towns and numbers of casinos, thus when the figures changed one could detect a closure/new one. So unless I knew beforehand and went to openings, I don't know exact dates.
As you say the one in Torquay was independent prior to being taken over - I actually had to pay £5 for life membership - but don't know who had owned it before I joined.

Wow, in fact "double wow" that many casinos you have visited or been into. AMAZING.
Do you have casino pictures of the places you have you visited? Are they posted elsewhere? Rarely I see photos or images of the Stakis casinos. I started collecting UK casino chips, jetons & plaques as a hobby, especially the casinos in the early years before the 1965 or 1968 Acts or the early 80s.
Can you post of some websites who has covered the Stakis if they are available.

No I rarely took pictures (as initially I was in such a hurry to join and get back - typically covering a race track in the day and casinos at night). I also collect all the chips (less than £5) that I can, some people have also kindly swapped me ones like Blenheim which I had never heard of. (I believe there was a book which listed all the casinos, but forget its details). I now make it a rule that usually I have to have been to the casino before collecting a chip and have given in trying to go to all of them in, for instance, Nevada (although I've been to quite a few).
I'll still try to visit all the provincial ones in the UK, but occasionally miss out if they open and close before I hear about them - for instance I was lucky to get to the Continental in Aberdeen after it had moved into town but before it closed, because I had heard about the new G there, but at that time didn't know there was a Soul Casino as well.

These are what I have in Continental Casinos which all there casinos were sold out to Stanley Leisure by Genting UK and now all are rebranded either to Genting Club for the new and purposely built venues and the older bought casinos were rebranded either to Mint, Maxims and Circus - some where upgraded and refurbished and rebranded recently to Genting Club or Genting Casino

I am not familiar with the Continental Casino in Aberdeen but I will get back to you next write up and I will double check my data base on "UK casino whereabout". Are you sure it is the "Continental" not the International Casino in Aberdeen at 9 Queens Road, Aberdeen AB15 4YL
Here is what I got on Soul Casino in Aberdeen, the casino opened in April 2007, with 14 table games and 12 slots machines. It is located in 333 Union Street, Aberdeen AB11 6DS
The other Aberdeen casinos that I have are the Blue Chip Casino, Cheval Gaming Club, Gala Casino Club, The International, Maverick Casino & Stakis Regency Casino.
Here is a link for you to see if you are interested to take a tour around the world thru the casino chips I made this couple of years ago which needs updating and I am in the process of doing so presently.
Let me know if you need chips that you missed during your last visit to the casinos. I don't sell chips I simply love to trade or exchange.

The casino that has been rebranded to Grosvenor G Casino Aberdeen was the International Casino, it opened under G in October 2008 with 22 tables games and 20 slot machines. The location of the G is not in the same spot of the International - it is now located in 5 Exchequer Row, Aberdeen AB11 5BW.

Casino News & Operations Forum has a regular update for UK operations http://www.gamingfloor.biz/forum/Quote: charliepatrickIn the UK there isn't as easy way to find out casino news (as I'm not in the business) so only hear about things through word of mouth.
Leo's in Liverpool had a 6 deck shoe game three weeks ago.

It's difficult to keep paces with ones that open and close - in the old days they listed the towns and how many were in each. There's some information at http://www.gamblingcommission.gov.uk/Find-licensees.aspx and http://www.gamblingcommission.gov.uk/Gambling-data-analysis/statistics/Industry-statistics.aspx suggests there were 147 in 2015.
