Two quick questions.
Do these two sites provide accurate basic strategy?
1.
2.
I assume, Wizard of odds is correct, but I would prefer to use the blackjackinfo chart b/c I have an easier time following it.
Please let me know
Also, I know that the rules at each casino are different, sometimes, and I should learn the basic strategy as it pertains to each casino. So, should I just call the casino and ask what their rules are? And if I should, what are the specific questions I should ask? Lastly, is there any particular way I should ask to ensure I get the information?
Thank you
There are some fine tuning differences between strategies based on number of decks, whether dealer hits soft 17, whether dealer peeks for Blackjack (known as US rule vs European rule), whether you can Double Down after splitting; so if you're starting out it's best to ignore those and learn one scenario before worrying about the subtle differences.Quote: tankAce...accurate basic strategy...
Personally if you're US based go for 6-8 decks, hits soft 17, peeks, no DDAS # (in UK 4-6 decks, stands soft 17, no peek, soft doubling, DDAS). If you're learning in phases, ignore soft doubling until you know everything else, as the differences are very slight and it's more important to know the rest.
With less decks in play the actual cards you are dealt has a higher effect on the cards left, for instance the chances of getting a 10 are now less when holding 10-2 against a 4, so you hit when playing 2-decks. But the difference not knowing this is very small.
# I don't live in the US so don't know for sure whether no DDAS is the norm or whether Atlantic City still stand on soft 17, but use 8-decks?

I'm a little curious what it is about the blackjackinfo.com chart that makes it easier for you to follow. Aren't both charts set up the same way, with the player's hand listed in the rows, and the dealer's upcard listed in the columns? Yes, I see the color of the cells are different, but I don't see much else different.
Can someone address my second question? Or is there a particular basic strategy I should learn first, b/c as the rules change it might be easier to just branch off from it, like what charliepatrick said above?

Quote: tankAceThe main reason I like the blackjackinfo.com chart is because of the way it looks - solid chart, no breaks, cells divided by lines and instead of saying soft 13, 14, etc - it has A,2 A,3 etc.

By all means call the casino and ask for the blackjack pit. You'll want to ask about table minimums and when they increase, any grandfathering, number of decks used and if there are CSMs.
Rules to ask about are soft 17, doubling, splitting and re splitting including aces and the blackjack payout which had better be 3 to 2. What the heck, as long as you are anonymous go ahead and ask how deep the penetration is.
