Here's some random questions I've been wondering about. Thanks in advance for help with any of them.
1. If the dealer's hole card isn't dealt until the last player's played, should that player change his play in any way based on the fact that his potential hit card definitely becomes the dealer's 2nd card if he stands?
It seems weird to me to completely disregard the following piece of information: if the last player's got a 16 into a 10 and hits and gets, say, a 3, then if he'd stood instead, the dealer's starting hand would definitely have been a 13, rather than a stronger total. It feels like we should be using that info somehow.
2. Probability Hypothetical: You're in a room with 3 doors. A million dollars is behind one of them. Guess right and win the money. Do you choose door 1, 2, or 3? After you've chosen, God says 'I will now vanish one of the doors you didn't choose but that doesn't have the million bucks behind it.' A door vanishes. He then asks if you'd like to switch from your first choice to the other door. Do you switch? If so, why? [Answer below].
3. Back to real questions: If a casino refunds all Double and Split wagers in case of a dealer BJ, then for a strategy card generator engine, should I click "yes, dealer peeks for BJ first," even though that casino doesn't actually peek first, and instead uses the 'European' style, where they wait until after the last player's played to deal the hole card?
I think the answer's yes, but I could use confirmation.
4. What are some other useful gambling message boards? Any with particularly active contingents of BJ players?
5. Which hands do you consider the most fun? I like soft 18 and a pair of 9's.
6. Conversely, what are the hardest situations for you to remain true to basic strategy? I hate not splitting 4's vs 2 thru 4 and doubling on 9 into a 3.
7. There's a free BJ skills game for anyone who wants to polish their basic skills. It's primary drawback is you can't modify the rules to mimic the real game you're going to play. Here, if int: http://www.hitorstand.net/game_l.html
8. Until two weeks ago I thought the thing a dealer gets cards from was called a 'shoot' and my buddy thought it was called a 'chute.' So why is the Chute like object that Shoots out cards called a shoe?
[Yes, switch doors. There's a 66% chance the money's behind the other door. Think of your original choice as having divided the 3 doors into two sets: the first set's the door you chose with a 33% chance of having the cash; the second set's the group of two doors with a 66% chance of having the money].

Heh heh, chickenman... that's funny.
I sometimes say, "You know why those little batons that cops sometimes carry are called blackjacks, don't you? Cuz they use 'em to hit you on the head & knock you out, same as this game does to people"
