I remember a casino that let you double with just one card (an ace), before you receive the second one. Is this usual? Is this good? How should i play that?

you should do it every time.

If the casino also lets you do that after splitting there are some cases where you should split tens.

How are the two related? If I have two tens, I can't simultaneously have one ace, can I?

If that rule applies to only aces I misunderstood. If it applies to any first card then what I said would make sense. (Not that you'd want to double on a first card that's small though.)

Triple Attack Blackjack lets the player double his bet after seeing his first card. Of course, they add other rules against the player as well.
