I recently returned from a trip to an Indian casino in central California. While there I was givin in to my needs of satisfying my itchy palms and decided to head to the tables. With all the regular blackjack tables full I noticed a spanish 21 table empty. The table offered all the general rule variations for spanish 21 ie. double on any cards, surrender on any first two cards, splitting up to four times including aces etc. I am a novice counter using the High-Opt I stratagy. I began playing and was winning modestly after a few hours I came across a hand that I did not know how to play, have searched for some info on the matter but found nothing.
I was playing the dealer heads up and was dealt A,A with a dealer up card of 6. The running count was +12 with a true count of 2.6. I automatically split my aces and was dealt a 6 on one hand and an A on the other so my hands now were A,A and A,6 I split my next pair of aces and now had three hands consisting of A,A and A,6 and A,4splitting again i now had A,A and A,6 and A,4 and A,5 feeling lucky with my slight positive count i decided to once again split aces coming up with yet another ace on both of my hands at this point i was notified that i was unable to spit any more having reached my splitting limit I proceeded with my knowledge of basic stratagy and ended up with hands of A,A,4,K and A,A,3,8 and A,6 and A,5,J and A,4,3 having doubled on some of my soft hands I had quite a bit of money out on the felt the dealer turned over a face card for a total of 16 when my worst fears came true the dealer pulled a 3 for 19 killing all of my hands...Now my question is How many times should I split Aces in spanish 21 and What are the benifits or lack there of...for splitting aces multiple times? oh and if you noticed any moves that i made that were wrong please notify me as i said i am still a novice. :) Sorry for the long story but i was slightly aggrivated

You should split Aces as many times as you can as long as you have the money to do so, and the house allows you to. Limiting the number of times you can split favors the house. But most casinos (rightly so in my opinion) limit to you to four hands total (3 splits) due to time and space considerations.
You should have doubled all of them with respect to basic strategy (i don't know counting exceptions for this game), except AA of course. Unless you were playing a stand 17 table, then just hit A4 instead of double.
