Quote: bodyforlife.....not to mention blackjack being paid at 6/5 instead of 1.5/1. I prefer to stay on the strip when I'm in Vegas so am mostly craps now. I don't see how a player can really reduce the odds anymore. Card counting seems useless when you're playing with an 8 deck shoe or at a table where they shuffle after every hand.
How many years ago? There are opportunities even in Vegas, even on the strip.

Really, where? I'd love to know as I don't know a single casino that would offer single deck and a 1 1/2 to 1 payout on a blackjack. Do tell.

Do your own research. CBJN is generally accurate at least for decks and natural payouts. For table limits and penetration it can get out of date quickly.
Asking for this information, especially from a respected guy like 1BB who pays the rent with his casino play, is not very wise nor is it likely to get a great response.
"Hey, I heard there's some cash lying on the floor somewhere. Mind telling me where it is so I can pick it up before you?"
Also, many full-time APs these days have moved on from straight card counting methods. You can still get the money with counting, but you can get it a lot faster if you widen your portfolio of skills. Hole-carding (BJ and carnival games), shuffle-tracking, ace-sequencing, you name it. The locations of games vulnerable to the above methods are held even more closely to the vest than the location of a decent DD game with half a deck cut off.
El Cortez is not bad, but very sweaty !! I have been asked to NOT vary my bet every time I have been there.
You can find some decent DD for 5/10 min. a bit off the strip @ Gold Coast, Silverton, South Point, Palace Station, and Orleans, pen will vary by dealer, they seem to cut of at least 3/4 deck.
Or you can head to Boulder City to play at Hacienda( SD- w/ good rules), I believe the best BJ in the country.
Full table, 1 hand and shuffle, heads up 3 hands and shuffle, limits 2-200.
Just to mess around w/ the dealer, I would hold 200 in chips in1 hand and 2 bucks in chips in the other, then slide them towards the betting circle at the same time, then put it in the circle at the last second, every time I bet 200, shuffle,-even if no hand had been dealt.
Good for a few laughs !
Check CNJN before you go, so you have a good idea of where good games can be found- good luck !!

Pretty much what I thought Don Pedro (as far as single deck on the strip). I had seen an occasional dd game but did not realize there were as many as the survey showed. Appreciate the info from you and Dexter. Good stuff guys!
