Wow, big preamble to a simple question...
My local card clubs, I took $100 and turned it into $100 before giving $180 back. Typical hands are $5-10 bet until the shoe goes +5 and then I start upping - maybe 3-4x original bet. I turned a quick $300 in 6 shoes at 3 different casinos... then after playing 50/50 for 90 minutes, shoe went super positive and I won $400 and then the final place won another $100. Reflecting on the experience, this does not seem to be normal or probable.
Craps, when you're very lucky can quickly turn $100 into $1,000, same w/ video poker or roulette but what about blackjack? I believe I just got very lucky but is this also a common result for those who play perfect strategy and count well?
Sorry, terrible post. I'm tired. :)

Quote: SantaQ... for exmaple, Angel Winds is this rinky-dink place on the 5 just north of the big casino, Tulalip. There, during the week, you can play $10 DD, dealer stands soft 17 and surrender... but for me it's a 60 minute drive and I end up smelling like an ash try.
Have you been to that AotW DD game recently? The last time I was there, they had 5 or 6 rules that essentially made it impossible to get any kind of spread down. Stuff like "You can't raise your bet more than 2X your first bet at the start of the shoe, you can't add another hand during one shoe" etc etc. It was clear they had either been hit hard by a counter or were scared of being hit hard. The rules were on a little placard right next to the table limits.

Yes, in the short term, counting cards will yield results that look a lot like getting lucky. In the long term you should win money from the casino, but weathering the losing streaks in between can be tiring. I have turned a $300 buy-in into $1200 on one hot shoe, but that is not the norm.
Lastly, a 1-4 spread is not really going to beat a 6D game in the long run. Common wisdom is that 1-10 is the bare minimum required, and with the shitty rules here in WA, 1-12 or more in advisable. These card rooms really don't blink at anything under $100, so if you are starting with a $5 bet, no reason not to go up to at LEAST $50 on the big counts.

HEY DAN---- why can't a Vegas casino do this!!!!! Then no more ambiguity about if a player is playing by the rules....
I just can't let this one go........
