if ur total bankroll was under $2000, and u had NO OTHER PLACE To STAY, u would see the value in me doing that promotion a lot more.
the whole reason i was in Jean was i couldnt afford a place to live in vegas.

$2,000 bankroll isn't very much; you get a bad run of cards and poof there goes 20% to 50% of your bankroll.

Here's a link about a guy (handle is hogua) that went through $1.2 million coin-in https://wizardofvegas.com/forum/gambling/blackjack/6507-beware-of-the-suffle-master-video-royal-match-blackjack-machines/ -- that sounds about right since you could easily put in $50K of coin-in a day under the right conditions . At 1% comp, that is a lot of gas, food, etc.

I am surprised you aren't managing the penetration like mwmb in post #14 in this link http://www.blackjackinfo.com/bb/showthread.php?t=20324&page=2
(I wouldn't be surprised if the sevencard2003 on this site is the same on bjinfo.com)

he is playing a different machine in australia, and they are subject to different gaming laws. here i know for a fact it dont start a new shoe after ALL of the money is taken out of the machine. WHY? because sometimes it shuffles within 2-3 hands of sitting down, long before the 80 card mark, so u realize its a deck someone else left in the middle of.

it took me quite a while to get the $1200 in coin-in for the free room on weekdays, and especially the $3000 coin in on saturdays. certainly nowhere near $50,000 coin in. why? because when ur roll is that low, a LOT of ur bets are flat bet of $1 one spot. then sometimes finally on good shoes, 2 spots of $4, 3 spots of $5, 3 spots of $8, 3 spots of $10, or whatever.

within the course of 2 months, the first few days i dropped over $1500 (i overbet my edge by way too high of max bets). But always on great plus counts of course. then once i was down to $1100, i slowly had ground it up to over $1800 before i left over a month later. earning my room and satisfied with small fluctations of up or down $20-200 a day. Had i stayed ANYWHERE else, id gone totally broke, and wouldnt still be living in vegas playing poker daily with the $1700 ive got left. my cost of a place to stay wouldve broken me.

wouldve never risked dropping 50% of the roll. (because as my roll went down, so did my max bet, and the same way on the way up)

i controlled the penetration somewhat by flat betting $1 one spot on horrible counts (to have as little at risk as possible), 5 spots of $1 on neutral counts, (to eat up cards) and 1 spot of $6 (instead of 3 spots of $2) on pretty good counts. or instead of 2 spots of $4 one spot of $8, etc. only on quite substantial counts where i needed the bet to be REALLY HIGH did i go with lets say 5 spots of $8 instead of one spot of $40 to help control variance.

but u see i did that when i felt it was about to shuffle anyway regardless of if i played 1 spot or 5 spots. the rest of the time i was trying to keep the shuffle from coming up when the deck had huge plus counts, so i cut back the number of hands to get MORE hands in before it shuffled.

those shufflemaster machines u spoke of, i lost my ass on them too, trying to figure out exact point of the shuffle. i gave up, thats how my roll got so low to begin with. most of the last year my poker roll was over $10k and it wouldve stayed that high and id not be stressed about money, had i not blown thru so much on the shufflemaster machines before a guy in laughlin suggested i go to Jean and check out the dealers angels machine instead.

i must say dealers angels is 100x better machine. thats why i wish i knew of more locations instead of just the ones around vegas.

It's the principle that I was pointing out. I get the impression you don't really do the penetration management concept (something that sabre doesn't get). Whenever I go to casino out in the boonies, I would report the findings to S. Wong for CBJN and collect my $9 fee to help offset my gas. The rule for penetration is actual cards seens so I would count every card seen. Most of the counters and APs that I know do this, they need to know when the shuffle point is -- maybe for your game, it's just not worth the effort, but you clearly are betting $1 to burn through the cards until the good counts and you are tying up all five stations (sabre made another mistake when he said there were 6 stations).

On a side note, back in 2006 or 2007, I reported the pen at River Rock Casino off highway 128, and I told Stanford the pen (actual cards seen) for their 2 deck game. Just a few month later, River Rock was hit for $60K to $70K by a team of counters, and the casino soon added anti-counter measures. I suspect it was a case of positive flux, by the team hit every casino from Cache Creek to River Rock except the one casino.

For what it's worth, I lost $1000 on the machine at Gold Strike over the two sessions I played. I was betting $30/hand on one spot. Overbetting my bankroll? Almost certainly. But that is a really bad negative run of >33 units.

When you lose your double downs, splits or double downs after splits, it gets painful. When you see a player splits to four and and has doubled down on each hand and then proceeds to lose to the dealer's 5-card 21, poof there goes 8 bets or 8 units.
