I think you just wanted to post a pic of a " scary" person...
If the casino isn't afraid of him neither should you be.
I just think of you as the guy who could be making a dollar or more for every letter he types.
Now go to the table, they have your money ready.
With the phone, less is more.trust....
The people here can survive the suspense.

Wong - I never said it was CZR - I said it was a CET property. Just found out high limit pit only opens on weekends. I almost feel like the number of shady characters have increased since I took that pic.
Sorry to be unclear.
I can tell from that picture right where you are.
Like the rest of AC and earth can...lol

And if you really feel it's shady, I wasn't trying to make too much fun of you.
The only place i like at Caesars and Ballys are the Asian Games rooms.
They usually have a high limit table open at Ballys and def. At showboat
Good luck

Bally's was where I "cut my teeth" so to speak and have fond memories of playing there. However, the atmosphere feels drained and all the dealers I knew moved over to the new place. However, Bally's, based on my estimate, is still more crowded than I have seen the new kid on the block.

We use to go to Ballly's alot, loved it there and my wife liked being on the boardwark, but the last two years the clientele has changed. There were no problems but I began to feel out of place. Now we've been going to Harrahs and love that place, easily the best of the CET props in AC. I doubt I'll select Bally's over Harrah's anytime soon.
I prefer more hoi polloi and the adventure of the shore.
But you would probably be safer, or feel safer at least.
I'm leaving for Reno tomorrow at 2pm; for my 30th (Saturday)...I plan to stay borderline black-out drunk from 6pm friday until noon sunday (have to work monday, lol)

Happy 30th TIM!!! Positive variance to you!
I prefer upscale joints such as The Venetian in general but its okay to be at Terribles where its crowded, low class and the food is barely edible. It just takes an awareness of your surroundings. If you are too troubled, don't gamble there.
played at a few different tables - basically to socialize with the dealer I hadn't seen in a long time
once again, lost every double down in the shoe to be another 1000 down...
and, yet again, positive variance shined on me and in one shoe got the 1000 back, plus the other 600 I was down plus 100 for my troubles LOL
trip is +100
Maybe I don't look like an easy "Mark" so I don't think I've encountered this. But for my edification, what would you call a "Hustler" and for what should I be looking to avoid such things?Quote: BedWetterBetterThere's certainly plenty of "hustlers" in AC
Quote: s2dbakerMaybe I don't look like an easy "Mark" so I don't think I've encountered this. But for my edification, what would you call a "Hustler" and for what should I be looking to avoid such things?
A person who either sits at the $25 table with a few chips in hand(say maybe $10-$15, usually some $1 chips) and watches you play. After a few hands, usually you winning or getting solid hands(18,19,20) they ask if they can "bet with you"
If they win, they'll quickly ask for their winnings, PLUS their initial stake but won't leave. They may wait another hand or two and then bet again for all their money. If they win again, they'll repeat the pattern for a while. However, if they LOSE, they'll start begging for money from YOU. Also if the hand is a double down, they'll ask you to cover the full amount of the double and then expect a "piece" of the extra winnings if it is successful.
Hence, the hustle aspect. They also try and build a rapport with you and make you feel sorry for them. They'll ask "How you doin"(win/loss wise) and tell you their sob story of how much they lost. Yea, you can tell them to piss off, but that won't stop them from hanging around behind you or making you look like the bad guy at the table.
And to Wongbo, it has nothing to do with color or race. The last guy I encountered that tried this on me, was Iranian, and looked like a little Borat with a receding hairline. I've also seen a middle aged white guy in a wheel chair try and do this with some old ladies sitting at the table. I warned them not to give the guy any of YOUR money because you pity him, if his situation is really that bad he doesn't need to be in a casino wagering money.
followed if necessary by FUCK OFF.
I've been in AC since the mid 80s, never had a problem getting rid of a person.
if the people in the boardwalk casinos are too scary you should go to the marina.

Yea, I know that now after dealing with such worms. Which by the way, I gave him nothing, lied and said I was down $400 and told em "you shoulda left when you were ahead" before cashing out and going elsewhere
But someone else like the above person may not see it coming and could use the advice.
Dealers are often helpful in pointing out the perpetrators as they probably see them running their scheme several times a week.

Who wants to go anywhere if you might have
a problem getting 'rid' of a person. Yuck. Its
very bad for business. I avoid places like that,
it ruins the trip if I have to keep looking over
my shoulder.

I've never had a problem on the boardwalk or in a casino and I've been on the boardwalk hundreds of times night and day. It's how you carry yourself. The good and the bad are all part of the boardwalk and I wouldn't miss it for the world. It's got some real characters like the young women trying to walk in their all too high heels or how about the lady who sits on a bench all day singing spirituals. She's got a good voice and she never asks for a dime. Then there's the mentally ill and of course the boardwalk cats.
If all that were to suddenly go away I think people would miss it although they may not admit it.
Quote: WongBoYeah whose ever heard of lowlifes hanging around a casino?
Not in the casinos I go to. In most places
they aren't allowed and are dealt with right
away.

And you think sitting on a bench singing is not
a form of mental illness? If your sister or mom
started doing it, what would you think? If it
were mine, I'd get them some help.

I love that lady who sings!!!
So I sauntered over to the new kid on the block to earn my "1 point" to play in the blackjack tournament. PLayed one shoe and won 600 - playe din the blackjack tourn and was out on first hand LOL. Made my way back to Big Bally's - played 3 shoes ended up plus 500

Quote: 1BBBob, of course it is mental illness. They don't want or in a lot of cases need help. These are harmless people, many who have been there for years.
And thats what I don't like about big cities. Mentally
ill people wander the streets and thats just peachy.
Imagine the number of screws you have to have
loose to think its OK to sit on a bench and sing all
day, for no apparent reason. What will she come
up with next that she thinks is OK? She needs help,
not enabling.

Society. What happens when you're around
abnormal behavior all the time is, you start
thinking its normal. People singing on park
benches is not acceptable behavior in our
society. If lots of people were doing it, thats
different. But this woman can't tell the difference
between what she wants to do, and whats
acceptable behavior. Which begs the question,
where else doesn't she see the line. She might
think its OK to stab her landlord in the neck
with a fork, who knows.
Reminds me of the old movies where they show
mental institutions where people recite Shakespeare
all day, or think they're Lincoln or Napoleon. It
looks like harmless behavior. But if they think
what they do is normal & acceptable, when it
obviously isn't, what else are they going to make
a mistake about. Thats why they got locked away.

Anyone playing at Aces' level could be assured one quiet word or nod with a shift person and any "hangers-on" would be shooed well away from his table.

I wish there was a way to inject a poll into a thread.
I'd be interested in how many people read that post and automatically thought,
"Then how'd YOU get in?"

I must be half-nuts, then, I'll walk around the grocery store belting out Christmas Carols when the season is right, "Angels We Have Heard on High," usually generates the best audience response.

Amazing grace how sweet the sound...la la la
I played another session that evening...played with a dealer I like, who dealt cards that did not like me. Left that session -800 (but still +800 for trip). Sat down at another table and things turned around. Got the 800 back plus another 500 in a few minutes and went to bed.
Trip was +2100
Quote: s2dbakerI have never had a "hustler" experience. I guess I just haven't lived yet. Last time I was at the Texas Hold'em Bonus table at Bally's, the lady to my left asked to play my Bonus bet since I was not betting it. Before each hand, she would slide me her $5 chip and I placed it on the spot for her just as the dealer instructed, and I got a pair once and gave her the money back. Overall she got clobbered betting the bonus on my hand but she didn't give me a sob story or even a hit of wanting compensation for my lack of bonus luck ( I ended up winning several hundred dollars on my regular bet ). We parted with a smile when the pit boss brought in two new decks.
Of course there will be people who will genuinely play honestly on your side bet in the hopes of getting a big hit. Usually, little old ladies or women are genuine. At the card table anyway...
I get it all the time at Spanish 21 on the Match the Dealer bet. Even on Bust It with the Dealer Bust Bet.
But if you're playing straight Blackjack, with no side bets, and someone starts asking to "bet with you", be careful. Especially if that someone is a shady looking character or is sitting at the table with no cash and a few chips in hand.
As for the "nods" to remove them, yea it may work if there's only one person hanging over your shoulder. But don't bother trying it at Sands PA, where the China town bus groups loaf around the tables in groups and the Pit bosses do little to rid them because ONE of them may or may not play.
