Very new to this forum and to BJ.Only played a couple times and loved it ,would like to learn more but need a little help with the abbreviations everyone is using, EV for one.AP player,RSA,DAS,BS(thought I knew this one). S17 vs H17. Also whats a wonger? Its like a whole new language to me, Thanks for any help much appreciated. one last thing the local tribal casino offers a 8 deck game with no surrender, dealer hits on soft 17,double on first cards,BJ does pay 3:2,split up to four hands except aces,do you think it would it be better to avoid this game and save for a trip to Reno(about 12hrs away)?

BS - Basic Strategy
EV - Expected Value
AP - Advantage Player (lots of people say AP Player, but that's like saying ATM Machine)
RSA - resplit aces
DAS - double after split
S17 - dealer stands on soft 17
H17 - dealer hits on soft 17
Those are actually pretty good rules at your local tribal casino. Is there a $0.50/hand fee? Reno will maybe get you the same rules with 4 or 6 decks.

thanks for the reply, seems so simple now. No the casino has no fee or ante.

No problem! Welcome to the board. If there's no fee or ante at the local casino, that's probably the best place to play blackjack - you'd be slightly better off in Reno, but you'd also have to be in Reno and the cost in time and $ to get there overwhelms the advantage at the tables there. That said, Reno is better than most indian casinos for slots and/or video poker, so if you play those as well that might tip the scales that way.

Not sure what a Wonger is either, out of context, but Wonging in and out of a shoe is to discretely join one, or stand up, because of the count, and pretend it is for other reasons. [I believe]

PS: I was struck at first how the abbreviation BJ gets no chuckles at all, it is seen so much that with this crowd it no longer has the other meaning.
